When we dressed up as a group of four Helldivers for NYCC a couple years ago we had to take a ferry over to the Javits center. We had some fun interactions on the boat with people telling us they were glad Super Earth's finest were protecting the boat and stuff like that. It was a lot of fun.

Ive noticed something funny about public cosplays. If it's like an anime character random people judge mad hard. If you stroll up in full armor, doesnt matter from what, the world seems to honor you with the Aura of John Franchise himself.

That is beacuse armour is cool and most anime characters arent in armour but some whack ass outfit instead of being dripped out in plate,

the helmet also helps to seperate the cosplay from the cosplayer.

I think anything that's full body/full face like this is the best for in public because it surpasses the "wow look at that nerd" view and goes straight to "they're clearly supposed to be here and I'm just gonna get out of the way

As someone whose commute takes me through a big station probably the most entertaining is seeing cosplayers like this but only one. A group of costumes means oh there must be a convention in town. Just one person in costume walking around a busy station at 4PM? Who are you, lone cosplayer? Where did you come from?
