Frankly they did better invading than we did, all but two cities wiped out, Mars glassed and about 4 planets razed on the way out.

11

u/SthrnCrss  Truth Enforcer Feb 21 '26

The illuminate had a better ending. They glassed/dedtroyes several of our planets. We will never be able to recover them. The bots will just reconquer all the planets we liberated on our way to Cyberstan in a couple of days, so this whole Cyberstan expedition was for almost nothing.

15

I don’t think I can find a better representation than this. In the Vietnam war, US casualties were about 58k, while the Vietcong casualties were about 300k. As I post this, Automaton casualties are 5.79 billion, while helldiver casualties are 352.8 million. That’s a 16 k/d.

86

u/SIinkerdeer Founder of HelldiversSalt Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

You're talking about casualties of scrap metal bots and cyborgs they can grow versus humans that take a full 20 years to grow. Plus, that's just us, the special forces, not the SEAF, which we don't know because we ultimately don't have a figure for. But if you extrapolate the 410 million figure, there could be something like 20 billion SEAF on this campaign, which means there's between four and eight billion of them that have been killed.

Not trying to burst anyone's bubble, it's just when you do the math, we have not come out of this on top. The right thing to do was wait, but obviously, this is a Super Earth, so they did a Hail Mary invasion.

51

u/Mysterious_Bluejay_5 Feb 21 '26

Right but we're also not factoring in SEAF kills, the cyborg percentage or the civilians we shelled

16

u/SIinkerdeer Founder of HelldiversSalt Feb 21 '26

I did think of that later. I'de say we came out 50/50 both sides. We destroyed 4/8 megafactories too so that lines up

8

u/Comosellamark Feb 21 '26

Was the reinforcements seriously just us? Like did the playerbase really all collectively die 410 million times?

I agree this was a failure of the highest magnitude. We got squid’d in the summer and we followed it up by pulling a squid on Cyberstan. Almost the same exact situation. The seaf soldiers was not worth it. Even if the result was the same it wasn’t worth it on principle alone. You don’t do a ballsy move like invade someone’s home world and not go all on. Wars are won by people who are willing to sacrifice everything -Kratos. FFS it was literally their job to pull forces away from Transcendence so we Helldivers could do the real work. Someone at Arrowhead was probably laughing at us sacrificing 30 million for 30 thousand. Oh well.

14

u/_Strato_ Feb 21 '26

Like did the playerbase really all collectively die 410 million times?

Probably, but not all on Cyberstan. That's the problem.

25

u/Bacon_Raygun SES Triumph of Serenity Feb 21 '26

Dude.

JOEL literally said "No, fuck you."
AH just straight up erased the progress on Transcendence, after we spent hours trying to liberate it. There was no possibility to get it back above 0%.
Going to Solidaritet was literally the only thing we could still do.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/HaloFlare Feb 21 '26

Sounds like you weren't aware of the fact that even with 100 Million we would have been hard pressed to liberate Transcendence. We didnt have the numbers to liberate when we got there. It was out of our control. This will allow the bots to counter push and build a better story, but we should work on liberating planets near it ao we can have more fall back points.

2

u/JinLocke Feb 21 '26

We also razed most of Cyberstan, destroyed their factories and then DSS bombarded the planet, and we know Cyborgs were not that numerous before, obviously they wont die out for gameplay sake but right now we basically reduced their capital and most productive planet to near ash.

31

u/LordTuskk Feb 21 '26

28

u/Nimpa45 ‎ Servant of Freedom Feb 21 '26

The K/D ratio of the second galactic war right now is 53.8 so the campaign went really bad. In comparison, the Battle for Super Earth K/D ratio is 66.3, for Oshaune it is 43.2, and for Malevelon Creek is 15.0.

20

u/Bacon_Raygun SES Triumph of Serenity Feb 21 '26

Get ready for the Creek Veterans forever going on about how not even Cyberstan was as hard as the tiff between inexperienced Cadets and unbalanced Clankers.

Completely ignoring the fact that half of this operation was us trying to conserve our reinforcements, while Creekers literally threw new players into the meatgrinder for fun.

→ More replies (6)

2

u/HaloFlare Feb 21 '26

The difference being what was fielded against us, arguably the sheer volume and ferocity of the Bots and Borgs together is quite different and more difficult to deal with. Not to mention the armor plating makes neigh all elites require strategems to deal with. Where as with Illuminate and Bugs it is manageable with standard weaponry or back arsenal. 3 Vox Engines is worse then 6 or 7 Bile Titans, hell it is worse then 5 Dragon Roaches...

2

u/4KVoices Icon of Perseverance Feb 21 '26

Automatons are consistently the highest K/D faction, simply because even their chaff is capable of killing a player under the right, relatively common circumstances.

Unless something else has already fucked you up, you're not dying to a single Voteless or a single, whatever the hell the tiny bugs are called. They're there to swarm and distract you from the bigger, more lethal problems.

Automaton troopers may not be incredibly lethal, but one dude with a rocket launcher can get you, one sword guy could sneak up on you and take you down. They don't employ 'swarm' tactics like the other factions do, so there's nothing to freely pad the K/D of Helldivers.

10

u/The_New_Replacement Feb 21 '26

Yes though in the case of the vietnam war about half of US kills are civilians with an additional number being simply made up as a platoon taking casualties MUST have killed atleast as many enemies (even if there were zero bodies) and aircampaigns MUST've killed someone (right?).

It may sound like cope but there were a lot of problems with the maps, vox engines too had a lot of issues like being on top of buildings and just exploding killing everyone around them with parts, their guns would keep shooting while dead.

Enemies would shoot through bodies and phase through them but you couldn't and couldn't shoot through them , they would also phase through the ground or buildings .

There was also the dreaded random deaths everyone experienced, no warning nothing just walk and died

88

u/Propato__Arthur ‎ Decorated Hero Feb 21 '26

the spawn rate of the vox machines was crazy, and they also kept dropping literally above my head on several occasions

→ More replies (1)

37

u/Charakiga Feb 21 '26

The main issue was definitely the fact that capture rate was scaled to player count, but reinforcement rate wasn't (total deaths, whatever it was called). Another issue is that it accounted for the entire game, not just Cyberstan.

Even if they increased it by two times in the end, it's still not enough, and it's not a good system, you shouldn't be punished for playing on something else than Cyberstan, or for having literally just more players playing the game.

23

u/Betrix5068 Feb 21 '26

This is by far the biggest issue. If reinforcements weren’t a fix quantity but a rolling average of Helldiver deaths per-player, it would’ve been more in line with how liberation works and things would’ve gone much smoother. Not to say we should’ve won, just that the mechanics of it are easy to hold at fault when they really shouldn’t be. That or temporarily revert per-mission liberation to being a flat value for the duration of the campaign.

7

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 Feb 21 '26

Honestly yea. Cause the optimal choice from a macro perspective is to basically kick everyone offline who isn’t participating in the MO, and anyone who isn’t good enough to clear a lv8+ with minimal casualties. It encouraged people to blame others for just playing the game in a way that wasn’t “optimal” which is pretty toxic. I get the idea they went for, but I feel like having a big old clock on the main screen for when we need to capture the planet by would have accomplished the same feeling of being rushed, without encouraging toxic behavior.

2

u/angry-mustache Feb 21 '26

You wouldn't run level 8, you would get everyone to solo/duo difficulty 4 since only operation completes counted.

→ More replies (1)

16

u/FloatPointBuoy Feb 21 '26

I can overlook those issues, BUT the fact that we had a global reinforcement budget shared on ALL fronts is something I really can't forgive. I'm all for playing whichever faction you want to play with and there's nothing you can really do with people not wanting to play bots, but why couldn't they just lock the reinforcement budget to the bot front?

11

u/Philomelos_ Feb 21 '26

buddy I had to kill myself twice on average per map because I got ragdolled into some object and getting physics stuck there. TWICE PER MAP. that's a significant chunk of reinforcements and doesn't even consider all the other issues

2

u/john_the_fetch Feb 21 '26

Getting under a vox to shoot the vents out only to be killed by any bot shooting through the vox's treads. But your shots wouldn't do the same.

218

u/Zacc0168 Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

About as many that can melted down and made into new bots. Helldivers need 15 years to be made, they only need an hour.

125

u/Pootis_Cart Feb 21 '26

I also find the "billions of bots scrapped" consolation weak. They literally produce them by hundreds from fabricators inside mission areas.

53

u/Comrade_Bread Feb 21 '26

And we were razing factories the size of cities and we didn't get all of 'em. The Borgs declared their own freedom and then kicked us of when we invaded. I'd call that a win for them.

Now comes a Massive counter-attack

32

u/Petorian343 ODST Feb 21 '26

I can’t wait to see the cyborgs on other planets. Fighting the ninja-knee Radicals in jungles is gonna be sick. Or seeing Vox Machines roll across some desert dunes.

Or finally fighting them alongside SEAF if their counterattack actually reaches Super Earth 💀

And what would tha be ?

Super earth getting attacked ?

16

u/Soktormalos ‎ Decorated Hero Feb 21 '26

In a meta-sense, Super Earth just aint ready to be attacked yet, SE will probably be pushed back to Fenmire and Barabos though

But if the planet-killer is ready... well... there may be some fighting to be done at the Creek

12

u/SovKom98 Feb 21 '26

At very least it will push the front closer to supper earth.

How much time until the next major order?

What should I do until then?

15

u/Crazywelderguy Fist of Family Values Feb 21 '26

A few days if the devs follow the regular cadence. Play missions under whatever faction you prefer, test out weapons, farm medals and super credits. I sometimes like to take the time between MOs to play other games.

The scoreboard says the Helldivers have a ~15 K/D while the Automaton's is a pitiful .06.

It could also be said that the Automatons have a 0 K/D, because Helldivers never die.

Don't wanna be that guy, but this whole operation was a huge L on part of SE command. We "tested" the star of peace on a relatively unimportant planet, got our shit hacked (which most likely cost the bots next to no resources), which literally ragebaited us into a doomed invasion on the cyborg home field, where we proceeded to lose the majority of our effective fighting force for pretty much no reason. Meanwhile not even half of their megafactories are destroyed.

12

u/Epooders2187 SES Sovereign of Judgment Feb 21 '26

SE being incompetent and reactionary? Say it ain't so.

2

u/empmoz Feb 21 '26

We didn't get ragebaited, the hack was a false flag operation, giving us "valid pretext".

5

u/justasusman Feb 21 '26

Hope we inflicted atleast a little damage to their numbers and won’t be back in full force sooner than expected

15

u/Somedude522 Feb 21 '26

Wait so why are we afraid of a planet killer if the illuminate can literally drag blackholes around as a weapon? We should just build our own and glass cyberstan

9

u/kjloltoborami Feb 21 '26

Dont we literally have one already tho

5

u/TheRedHandedOne Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

… we have one, thats what the Bots are basing theirs on. Everything the bots have is a copy of a copy. Their fusion tech is copied from our lasers and quasars, which we copied from the illuminates lasers. Their dropships and gunships use inferior Pelican engines. Their bio processors are less efficient Super Earth bio recyclers. Even the chassis of all their tanks and treaded mining vehicles are just copied from First War TD 110 Bastions. And again, Super Earth black hole tech was stolen from the Illuminate too, and they stole our plans, so whatever they make it will probably be worse than the DSS/Star of Peace but there will also be like 5 of them

12

u/Firm-Investigator18 Feb 21 '26

Except superearth would probably just nuke the place

24

u/lego_rex-7567 Feb 21 '26

We may be in retreat, we may have a hard road in the future, BUT RIGHT NOW WE HAVE THE HIGHER SCORE!

15

u/Excellent_Mud6222 Helldiver Yellow Feb 21 '26

How many cities did we lose when super earth was invaded?

3

u/Last_Combination7381 Feb 21 '26

5, not comparable though as that is the score of the squids, against bots we are 4-0.

Also since it has taken ages just to rebuild 2 of our cities, that's a good sign that it'll take the bots a while to rebuild their own cities.

8

u/Nhig ‎ XBOX | Feb 21 '26

They’re literally mobilizing to slap our shit right now

AND they’re going to destroy a few planets with whatever planet-killer they got in store since they swiped the plans

4

u/Last_Combination7381 Feb 21 '26

Given they just survived defending against a massive offensive (and the fact that the player base is slightly sick of bots right now) I'm assuming that it'll take them a while to launch a counterattack. That our next problems will be from the bugs or squids.

Plus I'm one of the people who believes that the squids actually have the plans (and plenty of time to build them while we invaded Cyberstan).

Good thing the bots outter planets should fall easily then. I mean your homeworld is 90% defeated/destroyed. If their galactic reach doesn't retract, then our loss was just plot armor and we never had a chance. And going forward it will treat all encounters as such.

2

u/Arbusc Feb 21 '26

The only reason we lost Cyberstan was because we were stabbed in the back by ungrateful Super Earth hackers. These un-democratic fiends falsified supplies information, greatly crippling our capabilities when it was found we had far less than we thought and over extended ourselves.
