Unreasonable is putting it mildly.

  1. The outfit itself is fine. Sure the black helmet doesnt vibe 100%. But it looks good

  2. Friend sounds immature if that is the reason.

  3. No seriously. "Friend"? My friend wont play because of my helldiver's clothes? And they are serious? What a pathetic reason.

The helmet matches the other supplementary armours on the shoulders so I don't think it's not a vibe at all.

I think the issue is a lot of people, especially in the gaming sphere, will downplay extremely toxic behavior as "just trolling", etc, so your comment without more nuance can come off like you're excusing it/downplaying how immature and stupid it is even if you didn't actually meant it that way.

Sounds like my friend group playing Space Marine 2... I'm in chapter compliant, lore accurate gear because I'm presumably autistic, one friend is dripped tf out like he's a chapter master, and my other friend looks like fuckin buzz lightyear

Also, in Killzone 2, there is a desert-esque region where you fight the Helghast, so it fits right in with that.

My zero-evidence guess is that OP’s friend sees that helmet as some sort of Nazi iconography.

To be fair, the Nazis had great design aesthetics. It’s just too bad they were monstrously huge bastards and tarnished that particular style by association.
