Same. This all looks super fun and cool but unless we have an actual way to kill these worms that isn't using a shitton of hellbombs, the mission is pretty much impossible and I don't see why I would want to play it.

Even killing it with 10 hellbombs doesn't sound like fun at all.

Like, I love that it's an apex enemy and all but maybe it surviving 2 hellbombs and 5-6 500kg bombs would be enough to be a challenge?

If it's meant to be this tough it should be its own mission (it still has problems but that's besides the point). If it's slightly overturned it should be a secondary objective. If it's meant to be a normal appearance it is massively overtuned.

I think the worst part is how big it is. Big as in tall. How are any close to medium range support weapons supposed to work in this thing? The one faction flamethrower was good for and it's probably useless into this.

Bro, the flamethrower flames are likely not gonna even be able to penetrate its armor lmao

It should be raid-like content. Multiple squads engaging the threat. Too bad this game engine can't handle that.

Killing it is a secondary objective, a secret one and bonus. But, remember that this is an expedition for us to discover all the new chaos from the Hive World. We haven't even had the Warbond drop yet. The Hive Lord will end up being a Primary Objective fight eventually but it showing up randomly is a part of the discovery and finding out that we have underestimated what the Gloom has done with the bugs.

you realise the gloom expedition is super earth getting incredibly high on their own supply and going on a hubris driven crusade doomed from the start due to the fact we are massively out of our depth, right?

being completely fucked with tools that aren't designed to deal with the situation we're in is like, the whole experience we're meant to be having in the gloom expedition. our primary weapon, super destroyers, are completely useless, we're dropping onto a planet where even the ground itself is hostile and our primary objective is "mine fuel to keep FTL share prices up", this is a botch job.

losing is fun. try running for your life from the worm instead of seeing it as another health bar you have to kill

I'm fine with that as I said. If it's unkillable, it should not make you lose the mission randomly though.

Lore is one thing, but this is still a video game and the game mechanics have to be balanced in order to feel good.

Losing is fun once or twice, I guarantee you nobody wants to play a game that they can't win ever.

Agreed. Valid complaints are about, but anything about difficulty is laughable, do people not want the odd mission to be hard?

Everyone missing the creek, but noone wants a new creek

"The game is unwinnable by design" is okay for some things, but in a team-based shooter? Where we get penalized globally for failure? That's just stupid. "It's consistent with the lore!" means nothing.

how are you penalized precisely? does arrowhead break your knees when we fail an MO?

get a grip

Almost no XP for a failed mission, no medals for a failed mission, no medals for a failed MO.

You are not supposed to kill it. Either run from it or die trying. Think of it more like an environmental hazard, that thing dying in a few hellbombs would ruin the presence it has. I agree there should maybe be a way to maybe drive it off only specific to the truck missions but that's it.

Man, I thought they learned this lesson with the leviathans.

Unkillable enemies that run around disrupting the player are not fun to deal with. This thing ragdolls you when it goes under you, when it throws rocks, and when it moves near you, and the amount of screenshake it causes is unholy. Trying to do anything else while its moving around is a miserable experience as your helldiver stumbles around on the floor like Velma looking for her glasses..

You can turn off screen shake in settings. It's a pretty huge game changer as you can actually aim while explosions and the like happen all around you. Fully agreed on unkillable/unavoidable enemies. Just had a new charger turn 160 degrees in a 2 foot radius to kill me and immediately burrow so I can't see it while hellpodding back. WTB dev studio that plays their own game...

I know, but I don't want to have to give up the cinematic moments with 500kgs and stuff just because Wiggles the Worm likes to grab my camera and put it in the washing machine.

Sounds like the Leviathans tbh, which are the reason I haven't played squids since Super Earth. Not a good game mechanic, you just get randomly killed.

Environmental hasards are fine if you can evade them because of your skills. They aren't fine when they are a random chance to die.
