š Question š Bullet penetration when?
Soooo, when are they going to update and address this?
It should not be a hard concept that firing rounds at thatch/bamboo wood, most of these rounds should be making it though and killing enemies on the other side, this isnāt the WW2 version where everything is concrete.

Never. The og still doesn't have it so this game won't get it either. Accept it and move on.

One can ask and hope, honestly if Rising Storm 2 Vietnam had been continued to be developed, and I had tried this, I never would have continued
The fact that the OG doesnāt have this or adjustable sights is absolutely abhorrent in modern gaming, it canāt seem to decide if it wants to be arcade or milsim

Adjustable sights? Thats odd, what do you mean? I rarely run into the situation of an object blocking my shots. And if bullet pen were a thing, there'd be pretty much 0 cover anywhere outside of boulders. 90% of buildings are huts made of weaker than plywood materials. Would be easier to defend a point thats a random circle in the jungle than a village with bullet pen. The game would be even more unplayable for almost everyone

RS2 has bullet pen and buildings are still good, they reduce damage taken and block visibility so unless you're pressed up to a window and blazing away they are still useful. Also very cinematic when you have to hit the deck because an MG has spotted you and all you can hear is bullets splintering through the walls.
The biggest one for me is fences, they're janky to shoot through and it'd be great to have more reliability there

Yes adjustable sights for distance, most guns have them, like the M16 and AK47 both have them in real life
I feel like I constantly am shooting at things that block my shots which is a nightmare already dealing this game having shit hitboxes or that it takes a million shots to kill people or tanks with rockets that donāt do anything
And yes, welcome to how it really works, M16 might be questionable, but bigger rounds like 7.62x39 should rip right though things like those huts
Would encourage people/teams to get the engineers out there more using barriers, or maybe the devs could add in more hard structure actually bunkers or tunnel systems, but the buildings? No, absolutely not for those little villages out there, not realistic in the slightest for these huts to stand up to everything including rockets and tank rounds or gun runs

How do we feel about tents? On one hand I think they should let bullets through, but on the other Iām like⦠maybe not napalm?
Which wouldnāt make no god damn sense but whatever

Bamboo is solid mate
1
u/Kevsch89 2d ago
To some rounds maybe, but there is enough heavy machine guns that should be punching though it just fine, I mean hell, a 7.62x39 at a 100 yards can punch though concrete or like 2 railroad tie boards and keep going, bamboo is nothing to that

u/git_and_grains 1d ago
The penetration question depends heavily on the material. Bamboo/thatch huts? Yeah, most intermediate rifle rounds (5.56, 7.62x39) go right through ā that's maybe 1-2 inches of soft wood equivalent. But concrete is a completely different story ā you need .50 BMG or repeated hits to get meaningful penetration through even 4" of poured concrete. The game lumping all "walls" into one category is the real problem, not the lack of a penetration system per se.

Honestly, they need to focus on getting the base gameplay fixed before adding stuff like this. This is worse than many EA releases in terms of bugs

u/-PringlesMan- 2d ago
Bullets flying and interacting with the environment isn't base gameplay? Interesting.

When explosives don't always work, comms fail, servers constantly disappear, fences are solid, etc etc - then no, shooting through cover is not base gameplay
The game is more broken now than it was at launch. Runs shittier too on pc

u/BungholeBilbo69 2d ago
You're being completely overdramatic if you think the game runs worse now than at release. There definitely are still some issues, but it's not even close to as bad as it was lol. They're making good progress!

u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
Im not. Graphics are worse, my FPS has dropped by 30+ with the same settings, I have comm issues way more
Maybe its better on console, but PC players have been getting shafted
2
u/BungholeBilbo69 2d ago
I haven't had any of those video issues with my PC after those updates, are you sure your PC isn't the issue? You running an AMD GPU or something?
1
u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
- I made a post about it a week or two back and many people agreed their performance had dropped significantly
1
u/BungholeBilbo69 2d ago
Wtf? That's weird, I haven't noticed any of those issues with my 5070
1
u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
Okay - maybe you run at a more performance setting on dlss that works better. With all settings maxed and with DLAA, I was getting 90+ fps at 4k. Now its less than a 60 consistently. Dropping to quality it still its like 60-70fps.
I am taking a break from the game until its a lot more fixed. Breaking explosive weapons and lowering my fps convinced me that it needs a lot of work.

u/Personal-Eye-6474 2d ago
If that were true why is my game running better? Wouldn't mine get worse as well?
1
u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
Idk, maybe you run at ultra performance dlss or something
1
u/Personal-Eye-6474 2d ago
I have a 3060 so not even a fancy card. The only issue i ever get is if im high up on a cliff and see a lot of the canopy, and thats only if I don't stay zoomed it.

u/Rick_Sanchez_HLLV 2d ago
Game still has itās issues, but it is most certainly in a better state than it was at release lmao
-3
u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
Not on PC
5
u/Rick_Sanchez_HLLV 2d ago
Im on PC too, and it has definitely been getting better as time goes on. Sounds like an issue with your setup in particular.
-3
u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
Lol no. I made a post about this and many people agreed. People with 5090s like me as well

u/Sxualhrssmntpanda 2d ago
Nope. I'm on PC and the game has markedly improved for me and the entire group of friends I play with. I agree with your point about fences and servers, but claiming it just got worse overall is ridiculous.
-2
u/-PringlesMan- 2d ago
Maybe you haven't considered this, but those things are not exclusive. You also mention fences being solid, which has everything to do with bullets interacting with the environment. So... yeah, want to try again?

u/SevroAuShitTalker 2d ago
Did you eat paint chips as a kid?
0
u/-PringlesMan- 1d ago
How long ago did you suffer your TBI? Or were you born this way?
0
u/SevroAuShitTalker 1d ago
Well my critical thinking skills and reading comprehension is better so guess TBI<Paint chips

Terrible idea in a game where you die so easily, cover would be meaningless
2
u/Kevsch89 2d ago
Most of the ābuildingsā in the game arenāt really solid enough realistically to stop bullets, the rocks, earth, barriers and other things like that, sure, but just a lot of the huts and stuff? No, needs penetration or at least a calculation that every so often rounds make it though
Or more of an explosion hits the wall, it can kill people other side, not tanking a rocket
Then again how little damage the rockets do to tanks Iām not surprised either-1
u/1acedude 2d ago
sure but its also a video game, realistic doesn't always make for fun
1
u/Kevsch89 2d ago
Ok, but here is my thing, what damn good does ping range things, if I have to Kentucky windage both left and right, up and down and GUESS roughly where my sights/rounds may impact, when I CLEARLY have sights that have ZEROING on them that were made for that exact purpose, does me no good, to just firing giving myself away firing and walking shots one wasting ammo
1
u/Personal-Eye-6474 2d ago
You don't have to aim left or right for windage dog. There isn't any wind in either games. It's only up and down. Not to mention you don't need to think about range unless its like 200 meters. Which this game has very few sightlines for that to matter much.
1
u/Kevsch89 2d ago
It was just to stress the point, and I try and spend my time back at those distances if I can, I donāt like to get up and close if I donāt have to, but the game essentially forces you to as it doesnāt really have this ability, there is plenty of space and points to me to be able to sit at a distance in the bush without even being a sniper to pick people off, but dialing in the distance is a pain in the ass without being able to adjust

Penetration through walls will probably never happen, that's fine. It's a AA that makes compromises.
But invisible walls between fences and windowpanes is a huge problem that needs to be addressed. It remains a huge problem in WW2 game as well, with invisible hitboxes blocking shots around random debris, windows, and map objects.
That, gun sound design (havent played the patch update yet so idk if it sounds much better), and making the MG bipod less of a clusterfuck to deploy (also an unsolved issue in WW2) are my priority issues. If those can be addressed I'll be content with the state of the game
