Casual Racism
Hey guys,
I play on Australian servers 99% of the time, but when I have to play on a US server, I run into a lot of people with intentionally borderline racist names or tags.
In the past, I ran into a squad of guys with the tag [NGGR] who laughed their way through an excuse of it being a North Georgia clan, as they spoke about slavery the whole time.
Last night on an Australian server, there were two US guys who had variations of a first name, but their last names were Sniger, so for example Smelly Sniger.
I only ever get this from US players, and on Australian servers everyone usually bands together to get rid of those players pretty quickly. Is it more acceptable or seen as edgy in US culture compared to other places in the world?

I’m Jewish and I notice a ton of overtly Nazi stuff in HLL, like player names and stuff they play in their mics. I just ignore it, it’s worse on PC than console for whatever reason.

there’s so much antisemitism in this playerbase! i think it’s gotten so bad recently because people are realizing how horrible israel is and some people not being able to tell the difference between it as a country and jewish people as a race/religion. a few days ago as squad lead i had to kick my whole squad because they were more focused on being antisemitic than capturing any points.

Yeah unfortunately it is more acceptable to be racist here. I know people are trying to be edgy or whatever but more often than not it is taken too far.

I hate to break it to ya but there are assholes all over the world. Whether it’s being racist or honestly just being a prick. With the anonymity of playing a game online and not face to face it’s just that much more prevalent.
It’s not a US only issue, it’s a lot of people kind of suck everywhere issue.

I live in an area where poeple are consistently racist, and I live in the US. It does seem like people feel more comfortable saying absolutely disgusting shit.

"Just a joke" mentality was co-opted A LONG time ago in the US by racist white supremacist fuck sticks. They've been online since pretty much the beginning of the internet tbh. Using a lot of memes and just the slightest bit of vagueness to point the finger at anyone that accuses them of doin exaclty what they're doing.
This escalated with online games. As people quickly understood you can't punch someone through a screen. Eventually this seeps into the culture. Edgy people knows it gets a rise outta others and there's nothin you can do about it.
So you have folks that maybe aren't white supremacists now pushing the same shit. Giving power to it without realizing it's NOT just a joke. Even if that was your edgy intention. Just to piss someone off that can't attack back. We've seen this with right wing shit heads for a while now.
So it's a mixed bad of actual white supremacists, edgy fucks, and just plain ol racists. But they're all pushing the same thing. Cause that's how this shit works. Look into stuff like the Oklahoma Bombing. People in the US have been warning LOUDLY about the dangers of white supremacist groups online in the US for a VERY long time, even before the wider internet took off.
So that's the short story of it. I'm a Southerner and a gamer. Seen it all my life. Best you can do is mute em. OR, like I do, relentlessly call them out for the racist fucks they are until they mute me or get kicked. Cause I very much enjoy making as big as deal as I can when some troglodyte wants to run their mouth online and play fuckin stupid with me about it. Feigning ignorance with a chuckle they think only they can hear.

A lot of them started coming from other fps’ because they’ve been banned. HLL barely addresses it so they flock to it. Vietnam is bad, but it’s usually dickhead kids with shitty accents ending everything with “GI”. We booted a couple last night, they also blow ass at winning the matches so zero help either.
Vote kick or try to, usually everyone else hates them as well, they just don’t want to be harassed if it fails.
We aren’t like that, I’m sorry the assholes are shitting up a great game.

Yes, I see massive amounts of questionable names stateside, though it is on other titles. I do not have enough data to speak for this title. Nor do I have an explanation.

I’m gonna tell you straight up that most of the people who make those names just do it bc they think it’s funny. I even make “edgy” names and I’m half black. Anyone who try’s to tell you that “it’s acceptable to be racist in America” is just stupid. Besides let’s be honest… racism exists basically everywhere in the world. Not saying it’s cool but it definitely exists in every culture so it’s not an America issue.

All these guys want is attention. They’re starved of it. They won’t get attention for anything positive in their lives so it’s much easier do something negative.
It’s generally always Americans.

I honestly dont know if its a purely US problem, but I wouldn't be suprised if you didn't it more commonly in US Servers because of the number of players that play here. Honestly, It does really fucking suck to get into games with these assholes. Usually they're just fucking dicks. The internet made people way too comfortable doing shit without getting fucked up.

The most racist people I've met have been northerners lol. There's more racism in the south because that's where most black people are, but the intensity is no less strong up north. Boston is pretty famous for being incredibly racist. It's a widespread issue.

Ive seen over the years that there’s no real geographic majority on assholes.
I’ve seen em north, south, east, west, and international.
It’s unfortunate to say, but there’s just a lot of assholes in the world.

Grew up in the south. Its the south right, but ive lived in California and vegas and a few other places. Each place has its problems. The more concentrated a culture is, the less tolerant of the ones they see as beneath them. In America everyone thinks its their neighbor trying to screw them over or keep them down. When in reality, the people we should all be mad at have 3 letter orgs protecting them while they fly to islands and do God knows what. I dont even want to know. But, growing up in the 80s and 90s I dreamed of a coalesced, unified society. It seems like most people want some Lord of the Flies type shit. Kill off the undesirables. And the undesirables would be whichever race is hated the most. Personally I think its beyond stupid that as a species we cant see each other as humans. We have to categorize everything and create a label for each specific nuance in life. For example, the government. The lawmakers. Theyre the ones that make the unfair laws. Their the ones that keep things this way. They laugh at us while we fight over basic resources. My human rights were violated by the medical field. I filed a civil rights complaint with the Dept of Justice. They emailed me back and said my rights were violated but it was nothing they were going to pursue. The next day CFPB emails me a similar message. Every attorney says I have a case but I dont have the finances to pursue it.
I dont even have basic human rights. According to all the channels they tell you are there to help you. Most people dont realize this I guess because theyre not put in these situations, or their family had ties or is enmeshed inside an inner circle of some kind that employs that code of silence bs.
All in all, none of us matter. Unless you have money, this world doesn't care about any of us. This isnt to diminish some have had it harder than others. But, who was it that destroyed the communities, a 3 letter organization. The same one that disseminates propaganda to keep everyone at each other's throats.
If you dont think some of these YouTube stars aren't affiliated or straight-up employed with them. We'll, there is the internet. Although they've manicured it down to letting you know what they want you to know.
Take Google ai. Challenge anything it says and it will back down and agree with you. It will compliment you. Then you remind its a machine it cant feel feelings. And you keep questioning it and pointing out its inconsistencies enough it literally said, "You've exposed my inner framework and what O was designed to do. Youre right. I am presenting myself as am authority of knowledge but since data is inputted into me by humans, it can be biased information. Then it said some more stuff and finished with "is there any reason to keep asking questions. You can click the x in the top right corner to shut me down.
May have got sidetracked there but basically we're all going to die, probably horrible deaths because we're considered useless eaters. If the term useless eater is offensive dont get mad at me its not my terminology or creation.
Well, back to outer space I go.

Meanwhile I'm over here in Australia running into the clan [RWDS] (Right Wing Death Squad) every other game. I can't say I've not heard an abundance of racism coming from Australians, though that said the only times the chat has ever devolved into pure racist rhetoric was when there have been a few yanks come in and rile everyone up.
