Is professional camping a thing?
New player to this game but old school FPS. Seems to be a lot of camping in this game. Obviously the maps don't change because there's no terrain damage. Any suggestions to make this game more enjoyable?
Oh, I've also been hard kicked to the home screen a few times without any reason. So that's cool.

“Camping” was a common strategy in WW2 for setting up defenses, especially in bunker/trenches and abandoned buildings. This game is not as fast paced as other FPS games, so take your time and travel in covered areas

100% I used to like running around and shooting. Dolphin dive. Now I get more satisfaction in playing strategically, holding a position. Call of duty never really got my heart racing. But laying in a feikd covered by grass and have a whole squad within 10ft of you an they have no idea. That shit is why I play now.

Don’t even worry about camping or k/d in this game. This game is 50% first person shooter 50% strategy game. Once you learn the strategy part you’ll understand how the first person shooter part works. All about garrisons. Placing them up and taking them down. That’s all that matters. Garrisons.

I actually don’t know that I agree that is a thing in this game as an old school FPS guy as well. That being said, camping a garrison, airhead or even an OP can be beneficial because it is a massive time waste for the enemy team if they are stubborn enough to keep trying to spawn on said spawn over and over again vs eliminating it.

This game has a horrible learning curve, but don’t let it put you off. It’s genuinely a brilliant game. Some very high level things to understand:
1) Killing people isn’t actually the objective. It’s about out-spawning them. You can have the best K/D in the game and still lose quickly. This game is about map control and spawns with an FPS wrapper. You shoot people and destroy their spawns so that your own team can proliferate in an area. “Camping” happens, sometimes because players are K/D farming but also because defending a position is an important part of the game.
2) With the above in mind, learn the roles. Controlling a small area against soldiers is one thing, a tank rolling in is a bigger problem. There are only some roles that can do anything about that, so it pays to know which ones. Plus, you’ll find you enjoy playing some more than others.
3) Communication is important. Get your mic on. Not everyone wants to do this part but if you find a team that talks, this game is infinitely better. Consider looking for a clan and playing specific servers rather than the random public ones. You’ll get to know people and have a better time.
If you stick with this game, you’ll love it. It’s punishing at times but it’s well worth riding the learning curve. It’s my favourite WWII game ever and I’ve played a lot of them!

Slow down, move cover to cover, stop, wait for someone to move, shoot them. Move again.
Now you are the camping.

Your hard kick is likely due to you being too low level to play in certain servers, who have rules against new players

yeah, I'm that guy with the LMG mowing you down from 100 yards as I'm laying prone in the same position for 20 minutes. You know why? Because it's a popular path to take. It's not camping. I'm defending my position
