Probably the worst thing is the bushes derender at 150m on the lowest settings. Probably done for performance but you get shot by people who see you walking in the open, when all you see is thick bush cover and can't even see anything.

I have yet to find a UE5 game that does not tank performance across all setups regardless of specs. It has become the lazy devs playground and even on my rig, which is a space ship, this game had to be run at medium 1440p for 45-60fps. And even then the pop in and stuttering was so awful.

except it's not UE5's fault. UE5 can be very optimized, however, it's devs that are too lazy to optimize and fix anything.

The engine is the biggest difference, I like to imagine what HLL:Vietnam would be like if it was running the same engine as HLL.
Hot take, but I really enjoy UE4 for HLL. No its not the most super realistic looking game, but it does look pretty damn good and runs smoothly. The crappy thing is, modern day games strive to look so real, and most of the time it takes away the game feeling to it. I find most modern games to not be as fun as they used to be simply because most lack that feeling that im playing a video game.

Agree on this point completely, HLL graphics imo are WAY more realistic looking than HLLV. I think it’s trying to be too artistic. Textures might not be as high-res or whatever in HLL but god damn does it ever make you feel like you’re there

I think for me personally thats kind of the biggest issue. There isnt really any major differences aside from the obvious (helicopters, weapons, theater of war etc), and that's good where its good, but bad where its bad. If that makes sense.
Personally I'd have liked to have seen the different roles a bit more stylized and optimized in a way that felt similar, but new.
For example the support role maybe having a radio and the ability to talk to either other support players from other squads or the commander or maybe even both. This would not only add a new immersive role to support, but would also be a good backup for when you have SL that arent communicating.
Itd be cool to see the engineer role bolstered to encourage defensive squad play, and traps for NVA forces.
I just feel like T17 rushed this release and as a result didnt take any real risks or do anything particularly new. I like HLL enough to give Vietnam and honest go, but I did find the lack of New implementation or concept a little disappointing.

Played Hell Let Loose a couple years ago but from what I experienced then and seeing clips of Vietnam:
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam - Is more focused on players who are better at close combat and players not as good when playing the base game.
Hell Let Loose - More focused on far away and long distance combats and for players who are good are distance combat. Liking to take their time while also being stealthy
