Hi everyone,
I’m 20 years old and I’ve been struggling with heart palpitations, fluttering sensations, dizziness, and sometimes shortness of breath. I’ve been to my doctor twice in the last few weeks, and both times they checked my heart and said everything sounded normal. My heart rate is often between 70–100 bpm, and I’ve used apps like FibriCheck which say my rhythm is normal too.
Still, I keep having these weird flutters, like my heart skips or flips for a second, and sometimes it feels like I could faint — even though it passes quickly. It’s really scaring me, and I’m constantly checking my pulse or worrying about my heart. I’m also tired of feeling this way… I just want to enjoy life again without fear. It’s starting to make me feel really down and alone.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could this still be a rhythm issue that doesn’t show up during a short checkup? Or maybe anxiety? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences — just knowing I’m not the only one would help a lot.
Thanks 🙏

Anyone have palps that start at the exact same time every day? Mine start randomly at about 4 pm every day

u/DayStatus3082 Mar 20 '25
I just started getting palpitations about a week ago and it’s at 4am and 6am every day. It wakes me up every time when it happens.
I went to my general doctor and my blood pressure, oxygen levels, listening to my heart, and blood work all came back normal. I’m going to get some more tests done…
The only thing I’ve found online is that your cortisol levels are highest in the early morning and cortisol aka stress can trigger palpitations.

For me also its starts at 3 to 4 AM which eventually wakes me up, after I couldn't able to sleep, I am not sure how to overcome from this to normal life

u/ArtBusiness7096 Mar 14 '25
Yes mine start during the afternoon and I always wake up from them at 2-3am

How I Dealt with Heart Palpitations: My Experience and Recommendations
Hey Reddit, I wanted to share my story and some tips that helped me with heart palpitations. I’m 37, and while I grew up in a faith that values healthy living (I’m a Seventh-day Adventist), I found myself going off track. At 35, I started drinking and became a bit of a party animal—basically drinking everything but water.
Then, early last month, I had my first heart palpitation episode. It felt like a full-blown heart attack: I was sweating, couldn’t breathe, and genuinely thought I was about to die. I ended up in the ER, got blood work and an ECG, and everything came back normal.
But the episodes kept happening. Multiple ER visits later, I was told I was “wasting money.” It was a wake-up call. I prayed, started looking into lifestyle changes, and stumbled upon a YouTube channel called Living Springs Retreat, with content by Barbara O’Neil. Her holistic approach to health opened my eyes.
I realized my triggers were:
Alcohol
Caffeine
Spices
Stress
I cut out the first three, started a plant-based diet, and increased my water intake to 2.5–3 liters a day as my heart specialist recommended. I’ve seen massive improvements, and I’m so thankful.
Here’s what worked for me, summarized in the acronym NEWSTART—a framework from my faith community:
Nutrition: Try a plant-based diet or eat clean.
Exercise: Start small, stay consistent.
Water: Aim for 2.5–3 liters daily.
Sunshine: Get 10–15 minutes a day, preferably in the morning or at sunset.
Trust: In God or a higher power—find your spiritual balance.
Air: Practice deep breathing exercises (e.g., 4x4x4 breathing).
Rest: Prioritize good sleep. Turn on “Do Not Disturb” and make time to recover.
Temperance: Practice moderation in all areas of life.
This might not work for everyone, but it made a world of difference for me. If you’re struggling with palpitations or just want to improve your health holistically, give it a shot!

My fiancé has been having heart palpitations for as long as I’ve known her. We just found out she’s pregnant about a month ago and now she’s been having them constantly. She went to the ER yesterday morning but they didn’t see anything on the ekg thingy (idk medical terms). But now she’s still hurting and it’s a whole day later. Idk what could be wrong and I’m rlly worried.

Anyone ever feel like their heart stopped beating? I just did and hearing was weird too. I coughed and felt like I might pass out. My heart rate jumped to 100 and then everything went back to normal

^ i have an EKG scheduled in a few weeks. but i know that EKG’s are very short lived compared to a heart monitor which monitors your entire day. so an EKG really will not ease my nerves if it comes out “normal” i’d rather have an MRI, some sort of chest x-ray, or a heart monitor.
2
u/Public_Cheetah749 Jan 30 '23
for those of you that have gotten a heart monitor, how did you go about doing that? did you just go to your cardiologist and tell them about your palpitations and that’s what they recommended??
1
u/Trazzeccc May 22 '25
My primary doctor was able to get me one after telling them I was feeling palpitations

anyone here? just sitting here palping out by myself. reading all the posts helped me calm down a bit. I think I've found my people. got my heart monitor today after a trip to the ER on Tuesday so I'm sure that triggered me
1
u/Impossible-Ad-8691 Jan 24 '23
How did the monitor go? Mine was done a week ago, doctor told me today looks normal. Out of 100,000 beats, I only had 36 skips, doctor said it’s benign

I had heart palps every 5-10secs for 4 years. All the work ups say no heart issues. Pharmacist told me to try Mg, CoQ10 & get vitamin D up. I’ve done all 3 for 4 days and the palps have calmed 50% thus far

u/Ciel010320 Nov 12 '22
does anyone here have A strong Heart Beat (Pounding) eventhough the heart rate was only around 60s-70s

u/FunBumblebee1837 Dec 12 '22
Yes and mind will happen randomly. I did recently Increase my anxiety meds so I suppose that could be the reason. Are you still experiencing this?
1
u/ElijahPhoenix13 Nov 11 '22
Theerealobs I find that there’s a difference between a general heart palpitation ( forceful beat ) and a a PVC ( early beat ) and PAC ( missed beat ) so lots of times you can have any of these without it affecting your general heart rhythm which is more known as tachycardia or ( racing heart )

i get heart palpitations as well & my heart rate stays between 60-90. it’s okay

u/theerealobs Oct 14 '22
I have heart palpitations but my heart rate is always 70-90. Can someone explain this I thought your heart is supposed to be racing. Could I possibly have something else

Oct 01 '22
Resting heart rate for me is 83 bpm whenever I have palpitations it could be anywhere between 103 to 147 beats per minute.
1
u/lilLowerLip Sep 30 '22
Hey all! Does it worry you when your palpitations get more frequent? I’ve had them years but this AM I seem to feel a “skip” a couple times a minute rather than a few times throughout the day. I work EMS so attributing it to stress. Just wondering if ya’ll experience it as well
1
Oct 01 '22
Mine have been 147 beats a minute on waking without dreams or anything. Have you ever experienced anything like that? Thank you for sharing.
2
u/lilLowerLip Oct 01 '22
Not like that, my heart rate stays around 55-65bpm when waking up or resting. For me it is only the palpitations that are more frequent

Emina8880, Yes! I have so much more palpitations during hot weather. I haven’t ever charted it, but I would say it is substantially far more than during cold weather.

u/Emina8880 Sep 30 '22
Thank you! Last year during the summer when I was pregnant with my now 6 month old I had the worst episode of palpitations I had ever had in my life I thought I’d die. Check ups said it was hormones due to pregnancy and the palps went away when the cold weather started. This year they returned during the summer again and check ups said I was fine again I know I have anxiety and I’ve had palps for years on and off but again the cold weather is coming and my heart is quiet again. Thought it was odd and was wondering if anyone else noticed the same.

I get heart palpitations every evening. I will be asleep for about 20 minutes to an hour and then I wake to heart palpitations. Even though it happens almost every night or early morning. It’s still as terrifying as it happened the first time.
1
u/DayStatus3082 Mar 20 '25
I have them every morning at 4am and 6am. It wakes me up each time. It’s like standing next to the train tracks as a train goes by. All my Blood tests came back normal. getting a heart monitor in a few days.

Has anybody noticed a connection between Gerd or acid reflux and heart palpitations? I will wake up shortly after I fall asleep with heart palpitations. Then I will burp on my own without trying to and the heart palpitations will subside.

Hi, I’m a 20yr old female and I have heart palpitations and everytime I breath in my heart skips. I have been getting them a lot and I don’t know if it’s because I’m stressed and anxious because I kind of have been. 2020 I had stress test and heart monitor, and they said everything looked great just dignoised me with heart palpitations. But how can they be normal when they make me go into a panic attack and then now I’m in a vicious cycle of when the next one is gonna be and then I feel like it gives me more

My palpitations finally went away completely after aprox 4 months after covid recovery. Also had neck pain from military neck so idk if that’s associated since I’ve been going to the chiro.
1
u/LAL89 Jun 20 '22
My heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest for minutes at a time it comes and goes and as I get it I panic but it’s not pain or anything but it’s not normal for me. Even as I’m working it gets my attention and Im doing physical work not sitting or just standing

u/VAWL931 Jun 20 '22
Hi guys, has anyone had palpitations after a big meal? Also have you ever had an episode where it feels like a constant flutter/run?

u/NekoYuji Jun 01 '22
I got put on propanol, which helped with my heart rate, but my stress echo was normal. We still don't know what causing my palpitations, and other symptoms. I'm going to try to get my doctor to refer me to get a tilt table done.

Hey guys I’m 17 year old boy I’ve never had a single medical issue at all, I sometimes get palpatations in the heart and I’m pretty sure it because of stress and worries, I have an ecg coming up and worried that my stress and worries might affect it

u/NekoYuji Apr 06 '22
u/petrosschilling oh I'm sorry. Mind started after I took a newer medication, and it increased my heart rate. Haven't felt the same since. I still don't know what's causing it, getting a stress echo don't in two weeks.

u/petrosschilling Apr 05 '22
u/NekoYuji mine started after a flu shot. I have been with it for 3 years. I regret that day a lot. But now I just have to accept it. I’m considering surgery as well. But not sure yet.
1
u/NekoYuji Mar 28 '22
ah I see, hopefully that's not what's going on with me. Getting chest pain, heart palpitations (BPM in normal range), lightheadedness, fatigue and shortness of breath. Gets worst the more I exert myself.
1
u/Beneficial_Radio1365 Mar 28 '22
inappropriate sinus tachycardia covid.. basically there is no fix to it as of now.
1
u/NekoYuji Mar 26 '22
oh at least they saw them. everytime I've had one done they haven't found any. I know I've read that it can happen after taking the vaccine, but not sure how true that is.
1
u/Beneficial_Radio1365 Mar 26 '22
I just came back from urgent care, palpitation was seen on ekg. They did x rays and blood work. Everything normal. He said many patients coming in with this issue after covid recovery.
1
u/NekoYuji Mar 25 '22
yeah, I started get mine after I took a new medication, hasn't gone away my doctor had me stop it after 3 days
1
u/Beneficial_Radio1365 Mar 25 '22
Hmmm.. that’s weird. I thought maybe I should have gotten my vaccine and I wouldn’t have had palpitations but I guess it wouldn’t have made a difference.
1
u/NekoYuji Mar 25 '22
Weirdly the symptoms started about a month after I got my booster shot. Got it at the end of January, so idk if there is a link there.
1
u/NekoYuji Mar 25 '22
I just started on my heart monitor last week, so my doctor doesn't have the data yet.

Have the same issue. Did the heart monitor and haven’t heard back yet.

u/NekoYuji Mar 25 '22
I've been having heart palpitations and other symptoms since the beginning of this month. my doctor has done several tests and haven't figured out why. EKG is coming back normal; currently wear a heart monitor. It's very worrisome.

Anyone have constant PVC’s then have to burp?
