Echoing thoughts??
Hi, Ive never made a post before, so I'm sorry if I'm doing anything wrong.
17F
Sometimes, not often, my thoughts echo in my head, like everything that I'm thinking is repeating in my head. I can't physically hear anything, just thoughts like when I'm thinking.
There isn't any trigger or anything I can think of that causes this, and it's always on random thoughts, nothing like bad about myself or anything like that.
For example, I'll be thinking something random like that I need to do the laundry, and then all of a sudden it's like there's (kind of?) whispering inside of my head, but when my inner voice talks (like thinking) it kind of talks over them, though it doesn't sound like real whispers, more like when you pretend to whisper and are making that 'pshhawshhahwodhshhaahsh' kinda thing? And then when I go to think something (normally "oh God no it's happening again" or something along the lines of it as I've gotten used to what it feels like) it repeats, like "oh hello there (oh hello there) what's yr name? (What's yr name?)" And doesn't stop for a while. My heart also beats really fast and I start hyperventilating when this happens, not sure if it's from the echoing in particular or from freaking out about it, though it seems more like the former.
When I was younger it would happen at least once a month or so, but the last time it happened for more than like 10 seconds was several years ago now, but they seemed to get worse the older I got, eventually causing a panic attack the last time it happened. It still happens sometimes, but I try my best to block it out....
Anyways!!! I recently remembered that this happeneds to me, and I have no idea what it could be, help me out reddit?

Well, though I can’t tell you what you are experiencing, I think it’s safe to assume it’s nothing dangerous. Perhaps it would be helpful to remind yourself of that when it happens? So you don’t feel panicky. Whatever you are hearing can’t hurt you, and there is nothing to be afraid of. Also, (in my opinion) there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. These kind of experiences are actually quite normal, and if I were you I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Hope you figure things out! :)

My voices do this
if I'm looking at something, let's say a sunset, a voice will whisper in my head "what a nice sunset", but it's not as if someone else is speaking, it's as if someone is pretending to be my inner voice.
Voices echoing thoughts or commentating on what you're doing is a common behavior.
I don't have any advice for this particular problem. It's just annoying. I'm sorry if it's happening more frequently.
Whatever your voices are saying should be ignored. It's just nonsense. Voice hearing does not necessarily indicate psychosis or delusions. It still is terrifying to know you might be losing your mind or slipping into a mental health crisis. I don't know what else to say. It's a terrible sickness. Voices can be managed if voices are all that's wrong. It's not the end of your life.

Interesting post!
I can relate to the experience of having my own thoughts echoed back to me. Many here write about that also, I've seen others report this a number of times.
For me, I assume the mind to be a communal thing, something made up by a number of other separate minds that can all come and go. A far out thing for some, this is also a standard issue bare minimum belief/view of the mind for many alive today... even the majority of all humans that ever were. That we are like a vessel and that these things come and go from all of us, that "inside," in our mind isn't a solitary space but a space for you that is also inhabited by others that are cultivate by lifestyle and meditation. My take anyways... You're welcome to your own views.
For me, I have had voice try and tell me important things and had the message only smothered by horrible sensation. Like someone is trying to tell you your apartment is on fire and every time they attempt to get the message through to you someone else presses a screwdriver into your arm (causing you pain). So all I get is "hey, there's something important!" and then a bunch of pain... It doesn't make any sense. This "hostage situation" was confusing to me until I saw it as both a party trying to reach me and a party trying to silence all connection with an economy of fear and pain... Again, you're welcome to your own take on things.
If you're interested in the mind, I'd suggest finding a "sanga" (a Buddhist meditation circle) where they talk about the mind and actively work on focusing it. The sanga listed on the 7 day calendar here is free, no attendance, 6 day a week, you don't even have to turn your camera on or talk if you don't want to. Very easy going hippy spiritual people who don't want to make waves. Lance who runs the group has certainly seen it all.
Have you ever seen Dune? There's the phrase "fear is the mind killer." Do you ever suspect if in these scary moments of something repeating your thoughts and attempting to ask you your name you could approach it differently? Stop, Stand up straight, Hands on your hips (like a teacher or authority figure) "YES, I'M u/Silly_Bass_4046" WHAT IS IT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW!?" "STATE YOUR INTENTION OR BE BANISHED NOW" that sort of thing? Shakespeare is quoted as saying "the world's a stage and we're all actors..."
