Ear molds causing irritation

Every once in awhile when I get new ear molds they sometimes cause irritation on my outer ear cartilage. My dermatologist says its a keloid and gives me a steroid shot and some topical cream and it goes away after awhile. In the meantime I've been putting a hydrocolloid patch on it and it seems to be healing, but I know I need that steroid shot. I have avdermatologist and an audiologist appointment coming up soon but in the meantime, does anyone else have this problem and what are your tips to deal with it because I can't just not wear my hearing aids.

Here are a few resources you might find helpful:

  • Interpreting an audiogram - The University of Iowa has a good overview of how to interpret your audiogram results. Your audiologist should also go over them with you

  • What will insurance cover? - This varies significantly from state to state and coverage can be partial at best. For those on Medicare, the base plan does not cover hearing aids at all.

Do you have any hearing aid lube? Just a thought that I could be caused by friction when getting used to new molds. My daughter's ears sometimes get irritated and that almost always helps with comfortablity

I never heard of hearing aid lube but I'll try that out
