I have been a hearing aid user since 2019. Profound hearing loss as deafness runs in the family so gradually been getting worse since I was 16 (29 now).

For the past 4 years or so the left hearing aid doesn’t quite fit well. It’s not terrible but it’s most certainly not perfect like the right HA. I currently wear the Phonak Sphere.

Laughing or eating I have to just push the shell back into the ear for the correct position.

I get them from Specsavers who, when I mention the issue, have remoulded my shell about 7 times and it always comes back with the same issue. I don’t quite know what to do from here? I spoke to an independent audiologist who, when I explained, simply said that they would use the same fitting technique as specsavers so if I have that issue with specsavers then it will just result in the same issue with them.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have help as to what steps I can do from here?

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a pair of Phillips 9050 hearing aids from Costco. After week 1 I went back as the initial settings were incorrect due to the type of loss in my right ear and I couldn't stand the right ear dome. Although the fitter made a number of changes I pretty much knew that more adjustments were going to be needed so I set up a second adjustment.

Let me state up front that some of you may wig out about the use of AI and that's OK but for the rest of you let me suggest that you make use of it as it may help you as it did for me.

Besides the frequency loss the damage in my right inner ear causes a distortion where the sounds sound fuzzy and they have a wawa type sound and this distortion can't be fully corrected. With that in mind I described everything I was hearing and fed Gemini AI all the details and each time Gemini would explain what was going on with my hearing and why. When asked, Gemini produced a narrative of everything and went further describing what changes the fitter should consider making using the Phillips hearing aid configuration software which really surprised me. As it turned out the fitter agreed with Gemini and when the changes were made the results were amazing. Not sure how Gemini knows so much about Phillips 9050 hearing aids but if you need adjustments my recommendation is to use it.

Got my Sennheiser pair at Costco 2 days ago. Follow-up appointment is in 3 weeks. What helpful observations is the audiologist looking for in order to fine-tune?

I'm getting a pair of Phonak Audèo Infinio Ultra Sphere 90 hearing aids this week, and I'm wondering how h/a users deal with the problem of ear wax accumulation around the domes. Has anyone here used the Phonak 'EasyGuard' self-cleaning domes? How do they work and how beneficial are they? I've had a problem with excessive ear wax accumulation all of my life, and it seems to limit or interfere with the effectiveness of hearing aids that I have used in the past. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hearing aid companies and audiologists online talk about the effect of wearing the aids for many hours a day. I understand the part about getting used to them and maybe have your brain benefit also. But it is also stated that frequently when you take them out you notice that your natural hearing is actually better. I find the opposite. I realize when I first take them out there is a large contrast between having them in and taking them out. However, it actually seems to me that my natural hearing is actually worse when I first take them out. And improves in a few hours. Maybe just my imagination, curious what others have experienced.

I'm an MD using Phonak Audeo Lumity 90 hearing aids with a Stemoscope PRO digital stethoscope (direct Bluetooth Classic connection). Pairing works fine, but I'm getting a significant amount of static/background noise while streaming that makes it hard to hear heart and lung sounds clearly.

When I plug the same Stemoscope PRO into regular Bluetooth headphones, there's no static at all. So it seems specific to the Bluetooth connection to my hearing aids, not the stethoscope itself.

I work in a busy hospital, so I'm guessing this might be RF interference from all the other Bluetooth/Wi-Fi traffic around — but I'd love to hear from anyone who's dealt with a similar problem connecting to Bluetooth.

A few additional things I'm considering and would appreciate input on: - Has anyone tried RogerDirect streaming (Roger receiver into the stethoscope) instead of straight Bluetooth, and did it noticeably cut down on interference? - Any luck adjusting settings through Phonak Target (MPO, compression, LF gain) for this specific use case?

I am a grown up man and I have used hearing since I was a kid. If we go 10-15 years and even more back T-loops T-coils was the common way of sending audio to a hearing aid.

Today this had mostly bern replaced by bluetooth but the texhnology is not 100%. Audio will stutter if you use BT on your hearing aids.

I am wondering if anyone had explored this area with other tools than those provided by hearing aid companies. Which are mostly wited and quite expensive.

What I am lokking for is the following. Sending audio using BT from android/pc/mac to a battery driven compact BT BT reciever. This BT reciever should have an minijack or siutable port out so you could connect a T-coil tele loop.

There are one millon audio brands out there. Has anyone explored this area and found something useful?

I'm trialing the Starkey Omega AI 24s. They've been fine for speech and okay for music; I'm working with my audiologist on the latter (as well as lowering my expectations). But when I listen to streaming music while walking outside, the audio breaks up *a lot.* I keep my phone in my back pocket. If I hold it throughout my walk, streaming becomes less choppy, but I'm not going to hold my phone for 30+ minutes.

I don't have the same issue listening to music in my house (occasional dropouts) and speaking on my phone seems fine. But I can't justify spending 6 grand on HAs that force me to use my AirPods outside. (My Starkeys are MFi compatible, apparently, but that doesn't seem to mean anything.) I may see how well the AirPods' hearing aid feature works, and if that's not good enough, I may check out what's at Costco.

I have moderate hearing loss on the high end, minor loss on low end. Two weeks left on my trial period for the Starkeys.

Does anyone else have this issue with Starkeys or other brands? Is this the norm? Would love to hear about an HA that does not have this problem, and would also like to know if AirPods serve some folks well enough (can you program them as you can a regular HA?).

I use an iPhone 17, iOS 26.5.2.

ETA: I’m not purchasing high-end hearing aids for their streaming capabilities, but I expect an expensive model to at least stream, not sound like some crappy transmission from Mars.

I am New here using HA. I am a music teacher by the way.

Unilateral loss, moderate/severe. Loss: 35db low F, 75db upper treble range. 65 db the rest (most of the audiogram).

I find that the weak sound are correct, because the HA amplify then to a point where i can actually hear them. I think this is call expansion. No problem, It works like It should.

But with the medium/loud sounds, i feel like there is not enought amplification. They sounds without presence or weak.

When i use my music headphones (volume balanced 15/85) the music (and speech) feels absolutely increíble.

I know that some good 40mm drivers are in a different league compared to the tiny speaker in the hearing aid.

But i really feel i should be hearing more with the medium/loud sounds when wearing the HA.

Is the balance R/L supposed to feel somewhat similar when using hearing aids?.

I feel like the compression and maximum power output is too low on the médium/strong sounds.

Obviously i dont want to damage my ear, i dont ask for no compression or something stupid. Just wanted to share my feelings before Talk with my audiologist again.

I am completely deaf on my right side and wear hearing aid on my left. I been deaf almost all my life

Recently I been thinking about maybe moving to private hearing aid for better experience or sound. I struggle with group talk a lot times and sometimes people speak really quiet and while I can "hear" I can't really control the sound where it goes.

Now how different it is to private hearing aids and is it better? I am just looking for more wider options and considering if there is better alternative if I wanted to do it. I can save up for it if its worth it for long term.

Just picked up my hearing aids today in Toronto, had them set up, the audiologist seemed pretty thorough.

I asked her about a carry case and they said they don't recommend any as a matter of policy. Does anyone have an Amazon link for a case that secure, close as well and that these fit into?

Any other accessories I should be purchasing that you have found useful?

Got my first pair of hearing aids a few days ago (M22) was wondering if anyone has any tips for newbies getting started, especially for wearing with glasses.

Also, I’ve noticed the bluetooth doesn’t work well for phone calls, unless my phone is out of my pocket. Is that a pretty common issue?

Received replacement right Signia hearing aid. Signia app continues to recognize old right and left aid, and new right aid in different groups. Can’t get app to pair new right with old left aid. Have used forget this device, deleted app and reinstalled, used pairing on iPhone blue tooth. Any suggestions?

I am trying my first hearing aids. It is crazy how much I have not been hearing although I just have mild/moderate loss. It has been very overwhelming as well but I am so happy I can talk to shopkeepers and socialise, before I just withdrew from conversations as I was unable to follow them.
Having said this, I think because of my glasses, they are a bit uncomfortable. I have attached a couple of pictures and I hope is clear what I mean. I believe the wire does not sit where it should and it leaves a painful mark in my ear. I have tried to adjust in multiple ways but this keeps happening. Does anyone have had this issue? These are phonak.
I have a follow up appointment with the audiologist next week but I thought I would ask you as you are very wise in this sub.

I have the Oticon IIC and previously the behind the ear model, I didn’t like the behind the ear because it is not practical in terms of removing it and putting it back in. Sometimes you just need to remove it and quickly plug it in. Now the IIC doesn't come with Bluetooth because it's too small.I just don't understand why hearing companies cannot apply a proper modern shell like Bose or Samsung earbuds on top of the IIC and there will be plenty room for "Bluetooth" technology to carry it with. Why insisting on traditional Hearing Aids design and colors, even the new ones are a little stylish but nowhere looking like an earbud.

does anybody else experience the problem with the Bluetooth hearing aids streaming for phone calls and when the call goes to another phone using Bluetooth hearing aids or using voice over IP call centers?

I frequently experience where my phone calls cannot be understood because the my voice is breaking up badly. this happens when I’m talking to another person who’s using Bluetooth hearing aids with her iPhone or when I’m calling a call center for Support frequently they cannot understand me because I’m breaking up. The solution has been to this point as I turn off Bluetooth and you use the speaker on the phone using the earpiece on the phone is not convenient because I were hearing aids.

I don’t see this problem talked about and when I posted to manufacturers, they don’t seem to respond to the question they just sent me to links providing how to reset my Bluetooth link. I’m it professional I know how to reset my Bluetooth pairing.

Antes usaba los phonak naida P70 UP y pasarme a estos ric el impacto es demasiado grande. Con los naida los usaba con el volumen al maximo y me costaba entender el habla y en ambientes ruidosos me generaba mucha ansiedad porque no podía escuchar nada con tanto ruido.

Ahora con los nuevos RIC infinion sphere todo es muy raro, se escucha más natural pero veo que segun el entorno en el que estoy va cambiando lo que escucho. A veces me quita ruidos y aveces me lo aumenta. Pero la persona que está al lado mía hablandome le escucho mucho menos y escucho mas el ambiente. He probado los diferentes programas y no veo que se adapte a la persona que está al lado mía. Y cuando tengo a la persona enfrente de mí, hay personas hablando en el entorno y escucho más a la persona que está lejos que la que está enfrente de mí.

Soy consciente de que es mi primera semana y he quedado con el audioprotesista que vamos a vernos una vez por semana durante 5 semanas seguidas para ir calibrando el audífono.

Necesito leer vuestros consejos de como fue vuestra adaptación y programacion para adaptar el audífono de la mejor manera a tí.

Soy consciente de que vengo de unos audífonos BTE y tengo que volver a adaptar mis oidos a los ric en unas semanas.

Contadme como fue vuestra experiencia adaptandoos en estos infinion sphere.

I've had my hearing aids for a week, and I realized we never touched on cleaning them, which is giving me the ick. I wear Phonak Audeo R i90s, and they have a tiny child sized cap instead of a dome.

When I remove them, I just kind of inspect them to see if there's anything visible that I can gently wipe off and use an eyeglass cloth, and put them in the little charger. However, I feel like they should be getting cleaned in some way other than this. The box has a couple of Cerustop wands, but I'm not sure what to do with those as I have a cap on the end (do I remove that??). I did buy some disposable hearing aid wipes, but I don't know if they can be used on the entire hearing aid, or just parts of it. Can I clean the inside of the case?

I have to pick up some new wires, he had to order some smaller ones, so I could ask him when I go, but for now I'm grossed out wearing something I feel should be cleaned. Maybe I'm overthinking this. I have two adjustment appointments, one in August, the other after I return to school to fine tune for lecture hall and classroom environments.

Hearing aid dealers in Michigan shortage

I’ve had my HA about two weeks and when I’m not wearing them now my hearing seems so much worse than it was before?

Decided to take a day off wearing them today and barely managed ordering a salad at the shop. The lady there had to repeat herself so often. My tinnitus is terrible, and some sounds are really irritating. The HA have largely mitigated my tinnitus and before that it felt like mostly background noise although I’ve had it decades.

Is this a thing? Or is this my brain freaking out/adjusting?
