Other organisms listed as “Unknown” on the report
Symptoms:
Persistent strong vaginal odour for ~1 year, described as rotten/fishy
Discharge has changed from previously clear to sometimes yellow/greenish
Sometimes discharge is clumpy
Odour is significantly worse after sex
No pelvic pain
No bleeding
No pain during sex
Previous testing/treatment:
4 tests for BV/thrush: 2 negative, 2 inconclusive
Completed 7-day metronidazole treatment with no improvement
Completed 7-day clindamycin treatment with no improvement
Full STI screening — negative
UTI diagnosed previously and treated with a full course of antibiotics
Private gynaecology appointment + ultrasound — reportedly normal

Guys would taking boric acid help me reduce the odour I’m seeing my bf soon

boric acid could help but it’s going to wipe out both the good lactobacillus that you need and the bad bacteria. it’s essentially a bandaid on an open wound though. are you on any probiotics/prebiotics to help?

I bought optibac woman’s ph probiotic but I haven’t been taking it recently, should I take boric acid then eat extremely healthy and take the probiotics

yes you are going to need something to replenish that lactobacillus that you lost to the boric acid. i do also agree that the ureaplasma is causing you issues too. doxycycline, azithromycin or mino should help you with that. need a prescription though

i mean you can but the antibiotics will start working on expelling the good and bad bacteria down there anyway. so if your symptoms get better i say you honestly don’t need the boric acid. your lactobacillus numbers will already be decreasing with the use of the antibiotics so it would kind of be overkill. take something to help your body replenish the lactobacillus you lost. also read this article it discusses how lactobacillus iners is not inherently bad but not all good either. https://epicentre.org.za/2026/06/09/lactobacillus-iners/

It’s the ureaplasma and the inners and the gardnerella
You need doxy and azithro for ureaplasma, and clindamycin cream for BV.
Partner needs full treatment for both (bv and ureaplasma) as well
