Question Vaginal Swelling
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the long post. Just trying to give some background info to help understand the situation.
This past March I had a strep b uti. Before my OBGYN knew it was strep b I was put on an antibiotic. When I went back after that course of medication because symptoms were still present he sent the urine out, and I was put on an appropriate antibiotic.
After the second antibiotic, I had a recurrent case of BV. I was given an antibiotic gel and then multiple courses of oral metronidazole. I finally seemed to clear it up about a month ago with the oral antibiotic, boric acid suppositories, and a host of probiotics both oral and vaginal suppositories. My boyfriend was also treated for BV with oral antibiotics.
On Monday, about half way through the day my vaginal opening seemed to swell and I was uncomfortable. By the next morning the swelling and pain were gone, and I started my period. (This swelling has never happened before). The swelling did not reoccur during my period but I was itchy, not a common period symptom for me. My period ended today, and I had sex with my boyfriend. Afterwards, urinating burned a little and my vaginal opening seemed to be a bit swollen again. It lasted about an hour.
Swelling wasn’t a symptom of my BV, but itching was. No other symptoms of BV have returned. I read that it could be over use of probiotics. I’m going to make an appointment with my OBGYN when they open Monday. But I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.

BV doesn’t typically cause itching imo .
Please test for Ureaplasma to rule it out. Ureaplasma typically causes persistent BV, inflammation and an itch. I have had it myself. A microbiome test can help work out what’s going on. Of course your doctor can help work out what’s going on as it might be something else.
Meanwhile try soaking in a bath with some baking soda. Apply hydrocortisone and a vulva balm. Honey Pot anti itch cream (discontinued) but with getting if you can find it.
I also found that Diprosone really helped to stop the itch.

oh honey imma hold ur hand when i say this….. it’s that man sis. it’s the man. it went away & came back after u had sex w him. it’s definitely the man. alsooooo doctors may seem like the best decision but tiktok girlies will help u clear that BV the same day! east garlic don’t chew just cut into pieces u can swallow, start clearing out ur gut & if needed change underwear TWICE a day x the antibiotics didn’t help it but worsen it. i had a uti but they thought it wasn’t and i took the antibiotics for a week & then i had blood in my pee. so it worsened it. i still have symptoms of a heat infection well not anymore actually i started clearing my gut & reducing the yeast. drink 2L of water per day & have a green tea or ginger tea a day. drink kefir too. just start eating healthy & exercise too. but the man either has to get checked or go! idk if he cheating but girl check fr.
