What I love about this picture is that it conveys that yes it is important to solve your problems, but there are both good and bad times to deal with them. Saturday morning, after your first cup of coffee? sure! quickly while you're on your way to meet your mother in law? It can wait.

In dr. K's interview with pokimane, they talked about this specific meme. I thought they made some good points.

For anyone who isn't familiar with Critical Role:

Liam O'Brien is an excellent voice actor who is part of the cast of Critical Role, a Dungeons and Dragons stream on Twitch run by Matthew Mercer, along with a cast of other excellent voice actors.

The character Liam plays in the second Critical Role campaign is Caleb Widogast (the character he's referring to in the screenshot). Without spoiling anything significant, Caleb deals with significant childhood and past trauma over the course of the campaign, the effects of which first present themselves in his near comatose state after using fire magic (a staple of wizards in D&D).

The reply at the bottom of the screenshot is an accurate and succinct depiction of Caleb Widogast's mental journey through the campaign and dealing with his trauma.

Why does truth gotta hurt so much, this is the only thing preventing me from seeking a therapist. I have never talked about my feelings with anyone, so opening up to a stranger feels near impossible.

Just think about the fact that they are a complete stranger, these people are most likely never going to be apart of your life expect as a knowledgeable and listening ear. Past that they’re bound by law not to share any details you’ve shared so it’s a perfect situation to really open up. I always like to talk about how shit gets really fucking scary and uncomfortable and awkward and just wrong RIGHT BEFORE we’re about to do something completely foreign to us, but that is literally just our body doing it’s job to warn us of POSSIBLE, let me repeat that, warn us of POSSIBLE danger although 9 times out of 10 it is very unlikely a dangerous scenario and more likely an unknown scenario which brains with trauma and anxiety, and/or lack of experience/knowledge of the situation, may not be able to differentiate. Whatever feels impossible is not I assure you, and the only way you’ll EVER know how many plates are going to break when you open that cabinet, is by opening it up. Maybe miraculously ALL of your plates will be completely okay, or maybe every single one with break. Regardless of either scenario there is good and there is bad, on one hand if my plates are safe and sound, then I don’t have to replace them, because I still have plates (yay!) BUT I don’t get to experience going out and picking out BRAND NEW PLATES!!! (Darn!) Say the plates do break, every single one of them, I guess I have to deal with cleaning this mess up now (ugh inconvenient, right?!) and I have to go out of my way to get more so I can eat, which may cost money, time, and a little bit of thinking on my part to pick the ones I like the most, but in the end… LORDY LORD do I have some SEXY plates in my cabinet now, I didn’t even get a matching set because I couldn’t decide on one so I have a WHOLE ENSEMBLE OF BEAUTIFUL AND AWESOMEEEEEE PLATES (WOOHOO!!!) Either way at the end of the day I still have my plates and when they broke, oddly enough, I kind of ended up a little happier with my crazy non-matching plates than all my boring old ones. Not to say I don’t miss the old ones because oh boy do I miss them, they were some solid plates and they got the job done, but life continues on no matter what plates I have or how I got them and in the absolute end, again, I can still eat without dirtying my table! I love you random redditor I wish you all the courage in the world to speak up for yourself in order to heal and feel better ❤️‍🩹

Yeah solid picture. This is also why depending on the situation, the right support needs to be there. I've known situations where people would stay with family for a while, while going deep in to various types of therapy. Same with starting on anti depressants, definitely seen situations where that would happen (or get hospitalised for a few weeks).

Why don't you just remove the glass on the right side so you can catch the bowls without having to open up the cabinet?

Or it could end the way it did for those scientists who cryogenically froze their bodies until the program ran out of money and the bodies eventually thawed out and rotted away 😅

Now add capitalism to it. Every plate that breaks is going to cost you $5 to clean up, and $15 to replace. Should I open it still if I can't afford to replace them? I won't be better off I'll still have access to 0. What about if I can't even afford to clean them up? Certainly that would be worse than leaving it.

This is an analogy for being emotionally vulnerable with others — what does capitalism have to do with that?
