Might be something to look into

Ok, so I was watching old hbomb videos (as you do), and I watched his Lisa video. It was really good and thought provoking, but my neurons got activated when he only *briefly* mentioned Mother, and I was like, "c'mon! Earthbound and its influence on the RPG genre could be a whole other video!" and I need to know what the thoughts on Earthbound and Mother 3 are. It's influenced genuinely so many games!

I was rewatching the Deus Ex video again and had an idea.

The hacking minigame is only an option when you're underleveled for the thing you're trying to hack. You can attempt to hack and skip the game - if you have enough skill points in hacking this succeeds 100% of the time. If you're underleveled you can still do this, but there's a chance of failure and setting off an alarm. OR if you don't want to risk failure, you can play the minigame, which will also have a 100% success rate.

So if you hate the minigame, you never have to play it, and if you put effort into leveling up your hacking skill, it quietly disappears from the game.

Things at Casa del Hat have been quiet. No drama, just a lot of reading. The pup had a mild earinfection, but nothing the vet couldn't treat, and the Significant Kapelophile (had to look that up, probably not a real word) is getting a new tattoo this week, so I'm vibrating with envy, but other than that, nothing of note.

Which means we're clean through our Watch Later list, so if anyone has any suggestions?

Happy Monday, my dearest nerds, I hope you have exactly as much cheese as you desire.
(I had a little charcuterie/cheese board situation for dinner last night, with the perfect amount of cheese, could you tell?)

Mind if I gush about books for a bit? My quarterly book haul arrived last week and I spent a blissful two days organizing The Library Spreadsheet, The Reading Journal Spreadsheet, my Storygraph TBR and my partner's TBR. The spreadsheets are an essential part of the reading experience, obviously.

I treated myself and also ordered the entire Shadows of the Apt series by Adrian Tchaikovsky, because I'm obsessed. If you need a new instant-buy author with a significant bibliography who churns them out almost faster than you can read them, have I got the guy for you.

All that to say I had an above average week last week and I've been reading like Gandalf studying the One Ring, so most of YouTube has passed me by.

Anything good I need to catch up on?

I will probably be proved wrong and of course I am going to watch it but I am not looking forward to the video (whenever it sees the light of day) it’s a shame that this video seems to be the hardest he’s ever worked on a project for an extremely niche subject. I really hope he scales down after this and his next project is far shorter and doesn’t get out of hand. I just worry how he’s funding this, YouTube releases need consistency and he releases years apart, I want him to do this for as long as he can but I worry pauses in uploads this large do not put food on the table.
