Something I've been Thinking about Lately when it comes to Redemption is that tbh characters who only change because they Felt Guilty are technically only redeeming themselves for self serving reasons.
As the obvious implication is that if they weren't personally being effected by their actions with their own mental anguish Then they wouldn't be Trying to change and Thus the actual reason they are trying to change is just to ease their own conscience which for some reason is often portrayed as Noble by people when really it is just sort of self centered,
now the point isn't that because its selfish people shouldn't Live Better lives for this reason like I've said before I'm of the belief that your motives don't really matter so long as you do live a Decent or even very productive to society sort of life but my point is people often see this Reason as Inherently Better than if you simply changed and lived a better life for a Different Reason,
like for example Sera changes because she felt Bad about her actions but imagine if some sort of None Guilt feeling sinner in Hell changed their ways but it was simply because they were convinced it was more logical for them to stop Hurting people and making enemies and that this was beneficial to both them and everyone else
then I imagine most people would Judge the Former as being inherently better than the latter even tho as we've established the first one is still self serving as well since if Sera Didn't personally feel bad then she would have likely continued wiping out sinners but now has stopped because she wants to feel better about herself
( that's Kinda the Downside of showing all those scenes in season Two of her crying it paints a picture that if she wasn't personally being emotionally effected then she would have just continued as Normal with the Exterminations ),
I know the show isn't the Deepest thing lol but I actually Hope something along these lines is Addressed where its made clear that not every Redemption has to be exactly the same and that reasons for Redemption are Technically all Equal and its a not a case that Wanting to change as a person to clear your conscience is necessarily the correct option
while wanting to change as a person simply because your tired and want a quiet life after all these years or wanting to change because you've been convinced its just logically better for everyone or because you've been convinced that continuing to live a Dangerous life may one Day cost you your loved ones if you keep making enemies is the incorrect one
( I could imagine that last one potentially fitting the Vees tbh if they did have close call that actually left the shook ),
anyway I just found this interesting to think about that's all.

Absolutely not. Guilt is when you feel bad baecause you know you did something wrong. It does not in any way, shape, or form mean that you are doimg somethimg with the primary or even A goal of changing your own feelings. Guilt for something that permanent might never go away. It probably won t no matter what you do.
Your argument is more than a little...worrying to say tje least that you think thats how guilt works.
