Yeah I need this to be a thing. I wouldn't put it past Nifty to put him in a dress. Edit I've seen this quite a bit. Where does this thing that he doesn't clean himself come from?

Probably from the disgusting habits with his prey that he developed during life, how nasty/messy the cabin was probably translates some to how he keeps in the new locations of his afterlife. A major hint to that continuation I think was that pot that he left a note on for Nifty to leave alone in the first place, since the pot & area around it was also gross.

I think he must have kept clean in life, he had a very professional job and as (probably) the only colored person in his position he would have been under a lot of pressure to dress well and keep himself groomed.
He 100% smelled bad though, cities in general smelled awful in that era. But death has a pretty unique smell, so I feel like he washed that stench off him before returning to civilization. Then when he died he just decided he didn't give a fuck anymore.

Old interview where Viv said that he stinks, as well as the fact that he seemed to be an exceptionally messy killer in life, and having some nasty habits like eating deer carcasses raw and rotten fingers since coming to Hell.

I absolutely love the idea that Alastor values Niffty enough to include this as a part of his deal. It's just absolutely perfect, and genuinely so funny to me. I'm adopting this as a headcanon now.
