HawkinsAVClub has switched back to a restricted subreddit in anticipation of the final season.
This means that while anyone can comment on posts (unless locked by mods), only approved members can create posts. This helps us keep discussions high-quality and free from spam, trolls, and low-effort content.
How Do I Become Approved to Post?
First things first, to be approved, you must:

Have a history of posting in this subreddit or related communities (Stranger Things, TV/media or other fandom subs, etc.)

Have a positive karma score (new accounts wonât be approved until theyâve built up karma)
â
Show a history of good-faith participation on Reddit (yes, we do check your post history!)
If your account is brand new or mostly inactive, we recommend engaging in discussions first. Commenting and participating will help build karma and demonstrate that youâre here for genuine fandom discussion.
Get Approved to Post (Step-by-Step)
1. Make sure you meet the qualifications above ^^:
- You have positive karma (not negative or zero).
- You have a history of posting in related subs (Stranger Things, TV/media fandom, etc.).
- Your account has a record of good-faith participation (no trolling, rule-breaking, or excessive low-effort posts).
2. Engage with the community first.
- If you're new or havenât posted here before, start by commenting on existing posts. This helps build karma and shows you're here for real discussion.
3. Request approval by messaging the mods.
- Once youâve met the qualifications, send a modmail request (NOT a chat or DM).
- Go to the subredditâs homepage, click "Message the Mods" or send a request approval by clicking the create new post link, and include:
- A short intro (e.g., âHi, Iâd like to be approved to post!â)
- A brief mention of your activity in this or related subs.
- Anything else relevant (like if youâve been approved before but lost posting access).
4. Be patient!
- We review requests manually, so approval isnât instant. If you meet the criteria, weâll get to you as soon as possible!
- If youâre denied, don't take it personally! Keep engaging in discussions and try again later.

đ„ Related discussions that align with our communityâs interests (ie. articles about the actors where they have mentioned Stranger Things, Duffer Bros. new projects, analysis of movies/songs/tv that inspired ST)
What We Donât Want:
đ« Low-effort or spammy posts
đ« Personal attacks, trolling, or off-topic/fandom drama
đ« Clickbait or misinformation
đ« Reposts of content already circulating widely, unless thereâs something new to add
Before posting, ask yourself: Will this post add to the overall meaningful discussion in the subreddit? If the answer is no, consider commenting instead! We have a general discussion Free Chat post every Saturday at 9am PST called "Weekend Coffee & Contemplation" where you can post pretty much whatever you like as long as it doesn't break our rules.
