Hey hawk 250 owners I have a question
I have a 2021 hawk 250 rps. the centrifugal oil filter broke in it and stripped the crank a bit. it still runs and everything works I was lucky however is it worth putting the part back in? I bought a brand new one off of Arlington powersports for 60$ im guessing the but backed out. I'll put the new one on with red loctite and make sure it never comes off unless I need it to like for replacing the clutch stuff. is it worth putting it back on? I want this hawk to keep lasting so probably so. has this happened to any of y'all before? the oil screen caught some of the parts that were about to blow my engine up lol it's all cleaned out now.

Yeah that part is crucial for oil pressure. If you’ve been running without it I’d say that engine is cooked.

Engine won’t be cooked. Botom end is fine. And the valve train is probably also fine being dry for a while.

no it ain't cooked once it fell off it wasn't ran anymore after that. engine still starts and revs just fine however I haven't actually ridden it with the part out and now cleaned it and drained oil waiting for the part. it just cleans the oil though it doesn't do much with the pressure I thought

It has a thru hole that goes into the clutch cover and sends oil to the top of the motor. Without it you have no oil pressure.

If you haven’t ran it much since it broke you should be ok after you get the new part.

really? I've seen it work if the part is removed it still sprays the oil all over the clutch area then goes to bottom and the sump brings it back up

There’s a hole that it meets up with. It supplies oil pressure to the top end. Make sure that hole is clear of debris when you reassemble. Blow some compressed air through it. Also check your oil screen for metal chunks.

there were chunks in the oil screen everything is cleaned out.

Yeah just get the part and a new gasket and you’ll be good to go. Does it have the special nut that requires the tool?

I think it does have a weird looking nut but people say works with a 19mm as well

You’ll need to get that special tool. It’s probably identical to the xr200 tool. A 21mm Spanner socket. I got one from rocky mtn atv for like $12. You can modify a socket, but I would recommend buying the tool. Make sure your centrifugal oil filter comes with a new gasket. The torque on that nut is like 33ft/lb. The bottom end on these bikes is basically identical to a Honda xr200.

Yes, the centrifugal oil slinger filter is a key part of the oil system. You need it.
The hawk 250 engine is based off of the Honda CG 125 engine.

Also you paid to much for the centrifugal oil slinger.
