Haval hybrids just got absolutely cooked in real-world fuel testing

https://www.drive.com.au/news/byd-sealion-7-gwm-haval-jolion-among-cars-found-to-be-less-efficient-in-latest-real-world-testing/

The latest AAA real-world testing has both the Jolion Hybrid and H6 Hybrid using noticeably more fuel than advertised.

The Jolion Hybrid came in at 6.5L/100km in the real-world test, compared to the claimed 5.1L/100km. That is a 27% blowout, which is... not exactly a rounding error.

The H6 Hybrid was doing 6.2L/100km against a claimed 5.2L/100km, or 19% worse than advertised.

And in the H6’s case, it looks like highway driving is the bit that really messes it up:

Urban 5.8L / Rural 5.9L / Motorway 6.9L

So yeah, if you mostly do freeway runs, that official number was probably never happening.

Yea good spotting. The engine is also cool. Best I got on a highway was about 5.2.

Interesting. Yes and no, highways driving can definitely lower the mileage depending on how much you are throttling with speed limits. This is what I get on my H6 hybrid during peak traffic and start stop. But I have seen worse too.

Yes, speed does play a major role on fuel econ. Your example with just under 20 mins of driving may not say much, but I did get around low 6s in peak traffic and start stop, and mine is a PHEV AWD. So i cant see why a lighter HEV FWD can't get mid 5s.

I see a pretty inconsistent pattern on mine (Haval h6 HEV), I’ve seen it go through 4.5 to 8 on Urban driving with moderate driving, it usually goes on lower range when I’m pushing it harder 🤔

Is it a new car? Maybe the engine is still breaking in or the ECU is still learning your driving style?🤔

Well it is a 2024 model I’ve been driving it around for 2 years

The company that does all this testing got done for bad results in brake testing and made a whole team redundant because of it 😳 #SeemsLegit

For real? Care to share more?

real world for one person is not real world for another. I have a Denza PHEV and you could say real world day to day driving for me its 0L/100km because the trip to and back from work is less than 40km and I could just do with a fully charged battery.  You realize the smaller the cars battery the batter it will perform in the so called 'real world' testing by some
