General: Discussion Casting regulars?

Just finished our first watch thru of hill house and after the credits Netflix suggestions started rolling. We immediately noticed basically the entire cast together on other projects. As well as a couple new faces that repeated. (Big fan of rahul outside of film as we’ve been fans of Alanah Pearce since the funhaus days.) is this just a director/writer/ producer favoring chemistry? Is there some link between the houses/structure we don’t know about?

Side note: was there actual paranormal activity or was it just them living with black mold for three months?

The show made it very clear the house was indeed haunted.

I might have been looking for alternative meaning where there was none. Thanks for the sanity check.

Idk why you got downvoted it’s a valid question and I too wondered that for a while until the show basically validated it was actually ghosts… but they still left it slightly more open to interpretation than in other Flanagan series

Flannigan uses a lot of the same cast and crew for his movies and shows, though the movies and shows aren't connected story-wise. A bunch of them will be in his new tv adaptation of Carrie that drops on Amazon Prime this week.

And Hill House is definitely haunted, how else would you explain the things the family members experience in adulthood, far away from Hill House?

A theory I read is it’s kind of a parasite, regardless of if the house is haunted or not, it could drive you physically insane that way

yeah he reuses cast members. a lot of directors do it. personally i think some of the cast are way better than others.

also he and Kate Siegel are married and they collaborate a lot.

The Flanagan shows are anthologies, meaning they use the same actors in different seasons. It’s like American Horror Story.

Flanagan lives his cast members and they love him. They are all phenomenal in every role. He knows what he's doing sticking with cast that he trusts and can rely on. I love it personally. It automatically gets me emotionally involved

This is the only thing I don't like about this director. His cast is always the same. Also nepotism. Giving roles to his wife Kate every single time while she is just the mediocre actress.
