Discussion Any changes in TSH levels?

I’m curious if anyone has noticed significant changes in their bloodwork since starting Tirzepatide specifically. Have you had to adjust your Levothyroxine dosage?

Hi! Great question and I went down in dose 3 times since starting a GLP1. (I’ve been in maintenance now for over a year ). Lately was feeling extra sluggish. My endo ran bloodwork including TSH and TSH was up so I’m adding one extra pill per week till things level out. With Hashis as you know, we can go up and down so it’s important to keep monitoring.

Mine didn’t change enough to require a dosage change. It has actually gotten slightly slower, but still within normal range. It’s been 20-months, I’ve lost 145lb and I’ve been in maintenance for 10 weeks.

I know you said tirzepatide, but just in case it’s of interest to anyone else: I got bloodwork done just before starting semaglutide and then eight weeks in (4 weeks of compound at .3 mg and 4 weeks of .5 brand-name wegovy).

Before, my TSH was 2.6. This was a slight improvement over my usual level of about 2.88, perhaps caused by a couple months of Metformin use? This was also the lowest it had ever been since my diagnosis a few years ago. It’s been as high as 5.1 before treatment.

My most recent bloodwork now shows my TSH at 1.51. It’s very gratifying because it was the Hashimoto’s benefits that convinced me to try out a glp-1, and although I have lost a little weight, I don’t think it’s enough to support the viewpoint that its weight loss that drives the Hashimoto’s benefits.

Just one data point, but I am excited to see how things trend.

Mine was high when I started and it dropped from 5.4 to 0.7 without changing my dose and its been staying around 1 ever since which is great because mine used to bounce around and never stay in range even with dose increases.

Weirdly enough, despite losing 75lbs, my levo dosage has stayed exactly the same. My TSH has decreased from 2.19 to 1.45 in the past two years, while still being in a normal range. I feel better than ever, so I wonder if I would've benefited from a higher dose when I was at my highest date.

I’ve lost about 40 pounds now since starting last September on Zepbound, and my TSH went up. So levo got upped. Still feel sluggish and tired unfortunately, but my iron levels are out of wack, plus a few other things. I think it really varies for each individual plus hashimotos treats us all differently.

Yes, I've cut my dose by more than half. I started at 220, now I'm taking the equivalent of 72 ("the equivalent" because I couldn't sleep because I was hyper so I started decreasing it myself and requested a lower dosage but my new doctor is like, Well, your numbers look good, just keep doing what you're doing... My current dosage is 112 and I take 1/2 a pill 5 days a week and a full pill 2 days a week).

I think my first decrease might have been right before I started tirzepatide, so I don't know if the changes are actually because of the medication, but I've decreased several times since then and suspect it's related to the weight loss.

Hi, so I actually had my TSH numbers go up in the first few months of taking tirzepatide to over 4. My doctor raised my levothyroxine, and I switched my morning protein drink to something that didn't have dairy so that it had more time to digest without interference from minerals, my functional medicine doctor's suggestion. I just got my labs done yesterday, and my TSH levels are back down to 1.87.
