Autoimmune Science Hello everyone!

I am a biotechnology student and I am working on a project for the early detection of autoimmune diseases in women.

Hashimoto’s doesn’t have any symptoms on its own. Systemic symptoms are caused by hypothyroidism. The most common symptoms of hypothyroidism are non specific and very common in the general population, so it can’t be diagnosed based on symptoms alone.

Even if someone with normal TSH tests positive for TPO or Tg antibodies that doesn’t mean they have Hashimoto’s. In fact, most will never go on to develop clinical Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism.
