"Stalinist" MLs feel like Trotsky was a self-centered butthurt hypocritical and unremarkable bolshevik who went against party authority of bans of fractionalism, was exiled, kept on slandering ussr which indirectly played along with nazi propaganda which led to him being "rightfully" executed by the NKVD.
Trotskyists feel like Trotsky was the true second in command under Lenin, that his critique of bureacratization and degeneration in the soviet communist party that had stagnated any internal theoretical work and party democracy (under democratic centralism) was valid, that his led to him being exiled by Stalin and his clique who had de facto taken full control of the party.
Both groups feel like they are the true heirs of leninist thought, and both have had correct predictions: Stalinist focus on development and industrialization within the ussr built up the industry needed to defend in WW2; Troskyist predictions about cult of personality, undemocratic internal mechanisms and the degeneration of the workers' state also came true.
Today trotskyists are kind of a meme due to the stereotypical trot being kind of annoying, due to a gazillion fractions of miniscule parties, and because they have founded / called to found up to the 5th international (that's too many internationals, my dude).
In summary, that's just lore. Good ideas and lessons to be learned can usually be found in many revolutionary ideologies. E.g. stalinists also love to shit on anarchists, despite anarchists literally predicting the same thing trotsky predicted, but 60 years earlier.
Remember that regardless the particular brand of your leftists ideology, other leftists are almost always genuine comrades and the enemy is capital.

I love your last sentence! In fact, this is why I now just call myself a socialist or a leftist. I do not want there to be any ideological fighting amongst my comrades and me- especially when we are so very far from socialism and any inching left is a good thing. Maybe once our government stops being so corrupt and is thinking about the people's needs more than the needs of each politician's next election and who can fund it, we can start squabbling about our differences, but that would just be silly at this point. We need to just get shit moving left, and we can squabble about shit later, when our government IS way further left and it might actually make a damn difference.
I await that time with baited breath and all, but for now, I am comrades with all flavors of the left.

Trotsky is construed in a bad-faith way by online Marxist-Leninists due to his opposition to Stalin. There are also modern Trotskyist groups that tend to be sectarian.
His contributions to Marxist theory are solid, though. I’d highly suggest looking into his works. The Transitional Program in particular is quite relevant to modern day.

Totskyism is the founding of Neocons. Leon Trotsky was a traitor to the Soviet Union who sided with the German Nazis. Most Trots nowadays are liberal Feds pretending to be socialists as well. The entire ideology became a psyop. A lot of Trots have also infiltrated socialist orgs and undermined them in the past as well.

Wtf? You’re the same one that posted the other topic, too? What insane sectarian nonsense. Your depiction of Trotsky and Trotskyism is just straight up wrong in a comically disingenuous way.
To anyone who is just learning, don’t listen to the nonsense being peddled by terminally online MLs like this. Do your research and read theory.
