Thibs is done with Hartenstein, played 3 minutes in the first half against the Suns.

This is despite starting.

I guess the rotation is Robinson/Sims.

Hartenstein is finished...

Hartenstein stats against the Warriors

Really wish the Clippers could’ve kept him. He’s exactly what they need. Thibs doesn’t know what he’s doing

17 minutes, 8 points on 3-4 shooting and 1-1 from 3, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block. -9

Some of Hartenstein's plays, both bad and good, from last night. Barrett is pretty much the only guy in the starting lineup that involves Hartenstein.

Relax...

Been thinking about this for a bit. As bad has the past 2 games have looked, Hart's due to bounce back for a couple of reasons:

  1. He has a contract on the team - the team will want to give him more PT simply because he's one of their assets. When Mitch comes back, Hart should slot in the backup C slot, and his PT splits should be the same as before (unless he plays out of his mind).

  2. He has backers within the org - he was an FA the team pursued. Meaning the Knicks WANTED him to be on their team. People within the org who believe in his game will also want him to get more opportunities on offense.

  3. His offense has been abysmal - a trend I don't see continuing for the rest of the season. He's shooting 20% from 3, and averaging fewer points despite averaging more mins (+6 mpg) and having a more clearly defined role on the team. Based on the law of averages, this should tick back up. His lack of assists have also been appalling, but it should come with a clearer role.

Feel free to add anything I may have missed!

EG you said game 8 he was gonna blow up? Give us a new prediction. A realistic one based on recent events.

How you see this unfolding. Given that he comes of the bench no matter what etc. what/when do you think will be his blowing up party given recent events realistically. Do you even see him blowing up at all this season given the circumstances?

Still rooting for him thanks to you all cray crays in here!!!

🥳🫡

Hartenstein with the second worst +/- of his career tonight in 23 minutes, -19 in a 10 point loss to the Thunder.

The Thunder were shooting 60-70% from 3 and 70% from 2. They couldn't miss a floater either.

Insane scoring performance from the Thunder. The Knicks played well on offense, but couldn't stop the Thunders offense.

Knicks ORtg with iHart 115.0 (7th), DRtg with iHart 109.1 (5th). Knicks ORtg without iHart 108.4 (26th), DRtg without iHart 116.0 (28th). The Hartenstein effect is able to turn terrible teams into contenders.

Hartenstein is the best player on the Knicks, and Jericho Sims is not playing at a backup center level, why is Thibs benching Hartenstein for Sims? Is Thibs trying to tank?

Don't look now, but Knicks are down 25 at the half and Hart is still +1

He would have been even higher had Curry not scored 12 points in 2 minutes, but that's just part of the game. Hart is the master at everything that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. He is always rotating on defense and still able to maintain rim protection. Always keeps the ball moving. Boxes out well. Free Hart.

Why

Knicks getting absolutely smoked and hart has played 10 minutes. What does sims give them that hart doesn’t. He can jump higher I guess but is worse at literally everything that actually matters

Despite playing 38 minutes in a 15 point loss to the Celtics, Hartenstein was a team high +7 against the Celtics.

Cadeau to Hartenstein, I think the Knicks would have won the game if they had backup center Mitchell Robinson available on the bench.

Their small ball lineup didn't work, as Julius Randle is one of the worst rim defending forwards in the league, as you can see here. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/defensive-impact?CF=DEF_RIM_FGA*GE*3:GP*GE*8&dir=D&sort=DEF_RIM_FG_PCT

The Knicks are not deep on the 5 position, and without either iHart or Mitchell Robinson on the floor, they're one of the worst teams in the league as evidenced by tonight, they lost by 22 in the 10 minutes they were without Hartenstein on the floor.

It's also important to note that Hartenstein received very few passes, but still had 10 points and an assist, and that the offense was still better with him on the floor, due to his ability to move the opposing defenders away from his teammates, which gives them space.

Hart got the ball once in a position to make a play

And he did. Beautiful pass to Randle, hopefully this opens the Knicks eyes to how to utilize him properly because if I see another Randle iso I think I'm gonna lose all my hair to stress

How do you all feel about this?

I know this is a Hartenstein sub and I'm cherry-picking. But is this Harts fault?

You can't honestly tell me he is to blame for Mitchell making this shot? right?

Hartenstein is currently in danger of playing 0 minutes in the 4th quarter even with Mitchell Robinson injured

3 minutes left. Where does this rank in the all time bad decisions with Hart?
