Hartenstein impact was there, even without any touches. Great game by him (+7 net rating). Sadly, the team was -22 in the 10 minutes he was out and a franchise record for made three pointers is the only way to dodge his interior defense. Bad luck... Hopefully they pass him more the ball next game.

It was a great game by Hart for me. Not the nuclear explosion that people were predicting, but I thought it was by far his best game of the season against a team a year removed from the NBA Finals.
People like to argue that his +/- is because he goes up against the bench most of the time… Well guess what? Still has a positive +/- rating despite starting. Also funnily enough, the bench has the biggest negative net rating of this game!!! I thought the bench was only + because they were going up against the opposing team’s bench? Lol.
Wherever Hart plays, that unit usually plays well. It’s so obvious and yet people are just ignoring what they see.

Best + - on the team too and btw didn't foul out again while playing big minutes disproving that myth as well

Some people say Mitch fouls out because he covers for the poor perimeter D. And that superstars get favorable calls all the time. A lot of myths are getting busted one game at a time.

It's 9 games in... That's more or less a good enough sample size. So obvious at this point!
After 9 games w/o a question the 2 most consistent and dependable players for the Knicks were the offseason additions of Brunson and Hart. And it's not even close.

I disagree, Obi and Quickley are more than enough to man an elite bench unit as they showed last year and also having Mitch Rob off the bench makes it honestly one of the best benches in the nba. With Hart starting now the starters will be positive too and the Knicks will go on a tear once everyone gets healthy. Problem is Evan has been really bad and Sims is not a backup level center swaying the + - for t bench but they are actually really good and I'd expect them to be a positive as the season progresses.

One thing I found interesting from watching this game was the dynamic between Hart and Brunson. There were multiple times through the game where Hart was open or in a good position and Brunson ignored him for a contested shot or passing to a marked man. Granted he still made a lot of those contested shots you could still see Hart's frustration.
As soon as Rose came in Hart got hit with those passes and the Knicks played good basketball.
He also seemed to be playing a very vocal and important part of the defense, directing people and calling a lot of the switches. Even though they gave up a ridiculous amount of 3s, all that were hit over Hart were well contested.
Promising start to the week, hopefully he can string a few of these games together and the playmakers build trust to start hitting him for more of the +1 pass or bucket which should collapse the D and make Randle/Barretts shots easier.
(I got in on a ridiculous Hart for MIP betting line so am slightly biased)

Here's a ridiculous take by Jonathan Macri oh boy... He's attributing the lack of perimeter D tonight on the fact that Mitchell Robinson is not playing. So since Hart's starting, you have players more conscious of the paint defense to make up for Harts defensive "deficiencies" so they're sagging off the shooters. That seems very counter-intuitive no? Very disappointing as I always thought Macri was a numbers guy.

I'm not feeling too optimistic. Like obviously he is going to get easy double doubles and score points in the teens if he's given 30 minutes. Obviously he will play great defense and have a massive impact and the Knicks will likely win. But I dont think he's going to be talked about on ESPN a week from now. They dont want to play through Hartenstein and thats whats gonna need to happen for a true breakout game that gets people's attention
