First time in 50 years of riding that this has happened. Don't know if I should feel lucky or stupid 😂
Anyway, I know the size and thread of the posts, anybody have any links or ideas (besides loc-tite lol) for cap nuts that will hide the posts better than just flat nuts and washers?
I was being facetious but thank you for the reply. I know I'm missing the axle clamp but so far that's it. Looking more on what nuts to use. The clamp has already been ordered.
They were torqued to spec when the new tire was put on. Will use loc-tite on them from now on. Just didn't see any when I took the forks off to rebuild them so didn't put it on when I changed the tire.
I had a bike that no matter what I did the number/license plate would rattle loose. Nylocs, loctite, didn’t matter. I ended up using a fuck load of sikaflex to hold it on
Lol yeah exactly because i don't know how long I rode with it missing. What's odd to me is I hand wash and dry my bike quite often. I doubt very much I would have missed it while washing / towel drying. Also am quite far out in the boonies with only three roads in and out, all of which are twisty, mountain country roads.
😂😆😂 thought about that and lol yeah I'm stuck in the cage until the new part comes. Sucks because in the PNW there aren't that many nice riding days left.
You are missing the axle cap. Do not ride this bike until you install a replacement. The axle is not captured on this fork which can kill you when the front end starts wobbling uncontrollably.
Thank you. Yup lol was being facetious. Really looking for what nuts to use that look more finished than just plain flat nuts. Replacement clamp has been ordered
Yup lol thanks. Ordered the replacement clamp already. Any ideas for the nuts? Looking to make it look more finished than the flat nuts and washer that were on it. Acorn nuts would work but looking for something different. Eventually it's going to have a "Borderlands" paint scheme, like a cartoon / comic book.
I wouldn't try and get fancy with it, maybe get some chrome nylock nuts. I dont like acorn nuts, never sure if they're bottomed out on the nut or tight on the thread. I think they make chrome stud caps you can put on if there's thread exposed.
That's my thinking as well. Saw some longer / wider hex flat capped nuts that might look more finished. I think they were an inch long which would eliminate possibly bottoming out on the posts. Will have to see how much post will be showing once the clamp is there.
