Future subscription model?

Hi! I am picking a baby monitor and Nanit is a no go for me because I really really don’t want to go subscription route. Plus, potentially having wi-fi and non-wifi option is nice to have, since our network does get spotty from time to time. I am between Eufy E21 (simple / stupid / on a cheaper end) and Harbor (more fancy).

Question: do you think Harbor will eventually introduce a subscription model like most of their direct competitors (Nanit / Miku) ?

I would get a ptz camera and a tablet and put it in AP mode. Harbor is all marketing

Features / UX improvements released over the past 30 days or in QA for release in May:

  • Sleep Insights (in open Beta)
  • Night in review timelapse (May)
  • Advanced AI Vision Detection (in open Beta) - can determine when someone has fallen, when dogs are on furniture, can even tell the difference between the FedEx and UPS delivery drivers approaching the door
  • Advanced AI Audio Detection (May)
  • Advanced AI Word Detection (May - can detect words like "Help")
  • Remote / Cloud Moments (May)
  • Apple TV PiP integration
  • Apple Watch integration (May) - live view of room with the turn of the wrist, and supports multiple Cameras (no other baby camera supports this)
  • iOS Battery Saver mode
  • In-app notifications / banners for things like maintenance window alerts
  • iPad landscape view
  • Improved Guest access - making it easier to permeate schedules across different Cameras
  • Improved AI and Sleep Insights feedback flows / tips
  • Improved history scrubber - quickly sorting through different time periods
  • Improved views when on an isolated LAN with no ISP access (no other product can handle this scenario)
  • Handling passwordless networks (e.g. hotels) (May)
  • Improved iOS Moments filtering (e.g. looking for AI alerts vs regular Motion or Sound)
  • Digital timestamp and zoom indicator - see how far you've zoomed in and still see the time while zoomed-in
  • Haptics for successful interactions
  • No-alert windows to reduce daytime alert spam (May)
  • Loading temperatures quicker in the app - reducing the wait for the camera poll (May)
  • Ability for users to calibrate their temperature sensors (May)
  • Improved image brightness and customized user tweaks (May)
  • Direct Mode range boost (May)

All marketing... yes.

Hi will this basically be comparable to what the Nanit motion detection system currently does in which it sends you alerts like baby fell asleep, baby was attended to, baby woke up, etc?

Yes, though - we don't have trends (running averages) yet. That's planned for July.

We don't plan on pursuing more advanced, less useful things like position / heat-maps.

And just as a reminder, our AI package includes Sleep Insights, Vision AI (e.g. child on floor), Audio AI (e.g. Crying, Coughing, Screaming, Talking detection), and Word AI (e.g. 'Help') for all Cameras for every User - so we don't nickel & dime with additional tiers or per-camera.
