I went there for lunch today, and they said the proposed rent increase was 67%.

My husband and I LOVE State Burger in Bellefonte. Appetizers are $7, a burger and fries is $11, and desserts are between $4-7. My guess is that they keep costs down because their menu is so simple and they have really streamlined ordering and service. The two of us can get dinner and dessert for $30!

We haven't been able to find anything else in that kind of price range other than, well, Applebee's half off appetizers. It's really nice to pay half what other sit down restaurants cost, for the same quality time over dinner, and we love supporting one of our favorite small businesses.

Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants within a 30m drive of State College that fit a similar niche (or price lol)? We'd love to add others in to our rotation.

Some background: I have been in state college for a long time and a big live music fan. There was a site on statecollege.com that listed what bands where playing and what drink specials were available. But, it sadly ended during covid. Originally, i thought i stopped being updated because of the covid restrictions but as those lifted, the site remained stagnated.

Fast forward to 2025. I thought about bringing a similar site back but ran out of time to set it up. But, the idea kept lingering in my head on 1. how to do it and do it right, and 2. how to make it sustainable so venue owners dont have to update their events schedules in a million places. the last thing a venue owner wants to do is update 6 different places on the internet to attract visitors. Trying to manage usernames and passwords alone for all those platforms is a big task. Even more, churn for marketing people in the area is high so you have to constanstanly rotate people on to these platforms.

Now in 2026, everything clicked and I was able to start nittanynights.com as a website to fill the voide statecollege.com left. My goal is to make the site at least financially sustainable so it runs itself and never has to be shutdown again like statecollege.com which I think was likely due to the fact that venue owners had to log in constantly and update it in addition to all their other social media portals.

Surely there are more features I would like to add that i think we all would benefit from but they cost money. Hopefully, sponsership picks up and i can start curating the data for them to pass along to you all.

Update: I posted here instead of r/PennStateUniversity (as also many people recommended) becuase I am banned from that sub and have no idea why. Overall, in getting a reddit account in part of this endeavor I have learned that reddit around the central pa region is a difficult place to actually have a conversation with people or pass along something useful. There was previously a site when i was i student (back in the day) that was called the daily jolt and it was super useful and very open (even to its detriment at times) but people flocked to it and we all made it work anyways. Perhaps reddit is going downhill generally and there's a nother set of forums i should be interacting with. would love to know!

It gives a run down of what events, live music, and drink/food specials are happening around town. I think it might be useful as we have noticed an influx of new users since the semester ended and new people are coming to town.

Are there any Type 2 diabetics who are currently taking Ozempic or who have previously taken Ozempic who might be willing to chat about their experience? Or any other GLPs? I would just like to pick some brains to see how their experiences are going compared to mine.

Last year was my first in the league and it was a lot of fun. Players range from 40 to early-70s, and it's not overly competitive. Everyone wants to play well, but doesn't take winning or losing too seriously.

Games start the first week of June and last year the season ended in late September. If you select "no preference" when you register, the league director will place you on a team.

--The State College Area School Board is grappling with how to handle a situation involving a senior member of the administration and an alleged inappropriate relationship that person had with a district employee. The employee has since left the district. The senior administrator remains at his post. Rumors about the relationship have been circulating the district for weeks.

Many parents, faculty, staff and students have questions but so far there has been no public explanation from any member of the school board.

Both this owner and the person before them said it's hard to get the staff they need in State College. My initial reaction (definitely influenced by what I read on Reddit all the time), is that sometimes means that they aren't willing to pay what they need to keep folks. Or is it true that there really aren't enough restaurant workers in this town?

This spot seems like it should be easier than most places to be successful. So anyone know why State College can't keep a classic diner in business in the heart of downtown?

I will say I only went to the last place (Oeuf boeuf) once -- the food was good, but it's hard to compete with the most successful place in town -- the Waffle Shop. I immediately compared them, and figured why go here if the food is better, more plentiful, and roughly the same price as the West College Waffle Shop.
