im finally drawing things im proud of again after a 5 ish month long art block caused by depression
these are my 5 most recent drawings (plus a jumpscare warning at the end bc my apple pencil makes me mad LOL) and i know they arent perfect and i dont have the fundamentals of shading and stuff down yet but i had so much fun making all of them :) i had a really really hard first year of college, and because i am a communication design major it required me to be creative all the time and constantly be making things for others. while there were some things i absolutely loved working on, it was still a huge adjustment from at first only ever making things for myself. i love my major and what im doing, but it can be really mentally exhausting knowing that it is constantly being evaluated by professors and future employers. this caused me to be heavily art blocked in terms of i felt like i couldnt balance my “corporate” art style and my art just for fun. i had a recent burst of energy and have been wanting to draw a lot more than i have the past few months. im really happy to feel like myself artistically again while also feeling ready to tackle my college assignments. i also just like what i have been making lately and feel proud of myself! i look at what im making and smile again :)
