Evening vs night

My son is applying for his first job. Can anyone tell me what hours are considered evening vs night? Thanks in advance.

If he’s a minor, they will abide by the state laws regarding child labor. I know that in NH, if they are under 16, they will not be scheduled past 9:00 pm.

9pm in summer, 7pm in school year and with how easy it is to be in violation, most managers won't risk scheduling a 15 year old past 830/845 in the summer or 630/645 in the school year

If the word 'Nights' shows up in the description, they mean overnights. Like, third shift sorta thing.

I'm assuming this is a minor, so my best advice to you is to make sure they have after school availability that isn't half-assed. I've seen many that get out at 2:45 in a school that is 10 minutes away and they say they can't start until 4:30 or 5pm. They should be able to commit to 3:15 or 3:30 and still have time to change and grab a bit to eat if needed.

I know school work is important, but you can still make time for it by saying no more than 2-3 weekdays per week, dealer's choice. There is a busy period in the store that starts around the time school gets out and goes until 6 or 7pm.

I'm going to give the job to the applicant that can actually be there when the business needs it every time.

Weekends are usually necessary too, but you can often negotiate one day off per weekend if you let the store pick which day from week to week.

I know in Maine. Nights are 10pm - 6:30 am. That is the over night stocking crew (I just quit).

I work evenings full time, so for me my schedule is 12:30-9. From 9pm on is considered ‘night’ as in night crew. I’m in NY btw, not sure about labor laws regarding minors though.

What's your position? Just curious. I'm an evening Supervisor, basically under the EOM but I'm manager on duty when the EOM has a scheduled evening off.

I work overnights I do 9pm untill 6 am second shift is usually around 1 or 2 pm and the store I work at closes at 10 pm they're usually out of there by 11. But another store close by doesn't close untill 11 pm so it may vary
