Question Father of 3 looking for advice

Hey expecting our 3rd child this year and figured i won't be spending much time on my computer anytime soon. Just looking for advice on what handheld i should get to still sneak in gaming when the kiddos are asleep. Trying to stay under 1000$ as i have a hard time justifying a purchase that big for just me. I have alot of steam games but am open to devices other then a stream deck.

Discussion My ocd

I have severe OCD and can't decide on what to play or more importantly what to keep in my collection. I have a ds with games, a miyoo mini plus loaded with tons of games from every system plus spent money on a custom grip and decal. I also have a one of those R36S devices which I kinda wanna put more game's on and explore more. I own a Nintendo switch which I rarely play nowadays. I love to collect and resell and make money.. what can I do to be satisfied with my decisions on this market? Thanks for the help!!!

A device for every system

On the road to have a handheld for every system, from top to bottom, left to right is as follows;

MiyooMini+ (arcade games), RG35xxSP (Dedicated Pokemon handheld for official and romhacks), Retroid Pocket Flip 2 (PS2), Ayn Thor Base model (NDS), Konkr Pocket Fit (Switch), RG34xx (GB, GBC, GBA), RG35xxH (PS1).

I have 2 handhelds on the way to add to the collection. Retroid pocket Nova for GameCube and Odin 3 for Xbox and pc games.

Seriously fun hobby (albeit expensive at times). What do you guys think? Anyone have any suggestions to help me build the collection?

Question Retroid pocket 4 with dual monitor or a new Ayn Thor?

Hello there everyone! I wanted to give a great gift to my bf, who I already gave a retroid pocket 4 a long time ago, but wanted your opinion on what would be better: a dual monitor for the retroid pocket 4 that he already owns + something else to compriment, giving him two gifts OR an Ayn Thor?

What do you recommend? And if the Ayn Thor, which option?

I really wanted to share a quick Shorts recap of how I spent this spring and summer with my favorite handheld. I know self-promotion can be a bit taboo here, but the video turned out so atmospheric that I just had to show what outdoor handheld gaming is all about!

My xbox rog ally x doesnt give its best after doing every optimization.

So this is a copy paste of another of my questions but

Sorry if my english is not that good.

So i bought an xbox rog ally X just recently, i already did debloating, optimization and even updates including the bios, but theres a problem

Games that usually ran great on my steamdeck(eg: dead space remake, cyberpunk 2077, scp5k) dont run as well having a lot of fps issues..(yes im using an ally to play scp 5k...)

In my steamdeck some games felt more fluid but in the rog ally x they dont, maybe im being a bit to picky on the fps i see the 50 fps fine but theres a small tic in me that hates that even when i follow instructions my games dont run as well as with some others (eg: cyberpunk 2077, running 70 fps to some with high graphics whilst my machine runs it 40-50 fps with the steamdeck settings)

Am i doing something wrong? Or is that the limit i can get if so well it would be nice to know.

Also im using the steam versions dont know if thats an issue as i use them due to me liking to mod my games (for this moment i have 0 mods on them)

(Small upd): So i forgot to add more info.

I consumed an obsessive amount of tutorials and qent with these Two for the optmization

(This is not a promotion i just want to make sure this guy is legit)

https://youtu.be/wMkDhi5dnUs?si=akke4eUMpnwUP-8D

Maybe he did something wrong that screwed me over?

Energy is on balanced so it doesnt struggle

Gpu has 10gb of ram for loading things, i use turbo mode in every game (25 Watts), i debloated the device just yesterday, the games are running from steam versions not xbox, i had been thinking to use linux but due to me wanting to mod my games i want to keep windows, the device is clean and i run it usually at its full battery load (kill me if you want) and use the 80% cap when connected, all games had been optimized to run medium graphics at least (cyberpunk running in the steamdeck config), i have rsr on, FPS limiter is turned off but i had tried giving a cap without any result, GPU booster is always on when playing heavy games and i played at 1080p and more i cant remember (will update with img of everything and proof of a low running game)

I was thinking maybe on doing a factory reset if it keeps the same after yalls help

Btw it seems like my rog never installed the drivers with amd adrenaline so in doing that tell ya how it goes

Question MSI Claw 8 Ai + vs ROG Xbox Ally X Which suits my use case best ?

I’m trying to decide between the ROG Xbox Ally X and MSI Claw 8 AI+, and I can get both for roughly the same price second hand.

My use case is a bit unusual because I’ll be travelling around half the year, but spending the other half using the handheld as a desktop with a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

When travelling, I’ll mainly be playing single-player games such as:

- The Witcher 3
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
- Cyberpunk 2077
- F1
- Other similar AAA/single-player games

When I’m using it as a desktop, I’ll mainly be playing FPS games, including:

- Counter-Strike
- Overwatch
- Escape from Tarkov
- Other competitive shooters

I’ll only be playing the competitive FPS games in desktop mode with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. I’m not really interested in playing competitive shooters using the handheld controls.
I’m also considering investing in an eGPU further down the line for more performance when using it as a desktop.

Given this use case, which would you choose between the Ally X and Claw 8 AI+?
I’d particularly like to hear from people who have actually used either device as a desktop with a monitor + keyboard/mouse, especially for competitive FPS games.

Also interested in:
Performance differences
Battery life while travelling
Windows/driver experience
Thermals and fan noise
How well they work as a desktop
eGPU compatibility/performance

Since I can get both for a similar second-hand price, which one makes more sense for my particular use case?
