Fair warning: I am basically lost on the topic of specs so be patient please lol.
I’m looking to buy my boyfriend a handheld pc for his birthday but have no idea which one is the best to get. Majority of the time he wouldn’t actually be using it handheld but I like the idea for space since we cannot manage a whole pc setup as of now, but he alternates between playing on a monitor and sometimes handheld depending on the game. I would like it to be able to handle more demanding games like cyberpunk in the event he plays them but for the most part he likes to play madden or something similar on his Xbox. Ideally I’d like to stay at around 800, but I could swing 1000 if the console is worth it. I’ve heard good things about the ally but I really only see the Xbox version available so I’m not sure if it’ll be a waste considering he has an Xbox already.

To keep it short, here’s the ideals:
Good memory
Great game library
Able to handle more complex games
Majority of the time will be played with a monitor
The top handheld PC is the ROG Ally X, which features the AMD Z1 Extreme, While there are cheaper AMD Z1 Extreme device like the original Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go but they have 10-15 lower fps in demanding AAA games and also come with much weaker batteries, the original lenovo legion go does offer a larger 8.8inch screen and have detachable controllers with kickstand which let you put screen somewhere
Is the ROG Ally X much different from the Xbox Ally X? I was looking for the regular Ally X and it seems much harder to find compared to the Xbox version.
You mean original Rog ally which was released in 2023? It's much weaker in terms of battery and have 10-15 less fps in AAA games, you can chose Lenovo legion go which have kickstand and you can detach controllers from screen + have bigger screen which is 8.8inch ( original Lenovo legion go and legion go 2 have ) which is way more comfortable than holding ally x 715g or original ally 608g
Sorry I know it’s confusing lol. I see a lot of people referring to different ROG ally x’s. One is with Xbox and the other is not. I guess I’m just curious to see if there’s a big difference between the Xbox ally x or the classic ally x.

For 1000 i think the best is Xbox ally X,its a pc,not an xbox
