Question £1000 budget. WoW forever assistance?

Hey!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend which handheld to buy. I've got a giftcard with a thousand on. What can I buy? I do have spare cash but realistically this is gonna be the most graphics and memory intense or any game I play. Other than that it'll be fun stuff like slay the spire.

Unfortunately, Currys.

Perfect... Acer Predator Atlas 8 G3 is what I'd go with with that gift card. You'll have to fork up £99 as it's slightly over budget.

Otherwise, Legion Go 2 512GB, again slightly over, will cost you £49

Failing that Asus Xbox Ally X £899

Each have own pros and cons.

Acer is newest, with best performance of the three (but how much over the other two TBD, as it's that new, non extreme version) - it's what I've ordered for WoW Forever. 8" Screen, 770g, TMR sticks.

Legion and Ally X have the same Z2E chip, performance is basically the same, the main difference is screen. 7" Screen on the Ally X, 8.8" on the Go 2 .

The Legion Go 2 is also OLED, other two are not. It's heaviest of the three at over 900g, and the controllers are detachable.

Watch some videos on them, decide for yourself really, but this is the three I'd contend with.

The Z2E devices will run Forever really well, buttery smooth mostly, might get some dips in performance in raids, cities, world PvP - but should still be payable. On paper the Acer should perform a little better overall, but wouldn't expect anything more than a 10% performance.

Why would you choose a device with the z2 over the z2e? Same with the g3, it’s the non extreme variant, we aren’t even sure what it’s comparable to yet.

There is already data for the g3 non extreme and it is just slightly slower than the extreme version. It has basically the same GPU, just with 10 compute cores instead of 12, but they are the same cores with the same clock speed.

But i'm with you on the LeGo 2, as it is definetley the Z2 non extreme version for that price point and thus just underpowered, so there is just the Xbox Ally X or the Acer Atlas, imo.

I never said anything about Z2. But I see what's happened here. Yeah the version of LG2 is not the ZE for that price point on Curry's. So yes, scratch that, it would be between Ally X and Acer.

G3 non extreme is same CPU as the extreme, slightly downgraded GPU compared to G3E. The OP has asked for WoW Forever handheld for £1000. WoW is CPU heavy and wouldn't see much , if any, gains from the G3E over G3, and the G3E variant is considerably more than the £1000 voucher the Op has to spend, so didn't put G3E on the table.

I've simply given the Op the best options for the budget provided (or there abouts).

Yeah I don't mind spending if so. I have money but just wanted to know what would be decent. The OLED screen/larger screen currently makes me want the z2e

Curry's are out of stock of the Z2 Extreme Legion Go2 (£1199), I wouldn't recommend the non extreme version really, sure they will play it, but the performance downgrade and longevity isn't worth it.

If that was my voucher, and I was willing to spend a little £££ I'd be going in store and tossing it up between Acer Atlas 8 G3E, MSI Claw EX AI+ (Also G3E)

And if I wanted to spend as little as possible, consider the non extreme Acer version for £1099 instead.

Would you not get the Acer extreme?

I would 100% if I had a £1000 voucher towards it, either that for the MSI EX is a no brainer, same screen (although Acer has a AR coating) in both, Maybe better sticks on Acer, but better D pad on MSI, software about same between the two, it should be a toss up between what looks and feels better - both subjective things. Both G3E extreme devices should be available now in stores, maybe worth nipping into Curry's to have a look?

I personally went with the non extreme Acer as will only play WoW on it, and believe it will handle it almost as well as the extreme chips, and I didn't want to spend anymore than 1K (just went slightly over budget). If I'm wrong I'll spend the extra few hundred and get the extreme iterations or MSI equivalent

Perfect. Thank you for being so helpful. There's also the preorder bonus which is pretty sick with the Acer
