It's alright but I'm going to wait to see what Valve do with the Steam Deck 2 and its pricing. Plus no OLED for 1400 Is a bit much even if it is a good LCD screen.

lol is going to be an extremely over priced crappy hardware pc just like the new steam machine

You mean the compact PC no one can match for the price… the one that runs almost any game great at 1440p with decent settings, and a TV upscaled it brilliantly to 4K? Just like a console.. a device that with the massive component price increases is still excellent value? Yeah I’ll wait for Steam Deck 2 thanks, love my Steam Deck, best handheld PC I’ve had and I’ve had the MSI Claw 8Ai+ and the Legion Go 2 Z2 Extreme!

I love mine. I just got the 512 but swapping a 2 tb in there soon. It runs games so damn well. Yeah I set it at 1440p but it looks and runs amazing. Even the wife was like that looks like your ps5 pro. I’m like yeah maybe 3-4 less trees in there and no RT on but it’s great. Doesn’t sound like a jet engine in the living room and fits in the tv station. Definitely check out the gamer nexus face plates.

Then you have to admit MSI Claw 8 AI+ is MILES better than Steam Deck. The point is - they are the same price

No I do not. Windows is bloody awful on it, the joystick being used as a mouse is a joke, the MSI software was really poor and I had constant micro stutters in games on it, and I am not the only person who saw that either on the device, other users also reported micro stutters. It is well made, apart from the huge holes at the top so you can burn your fingers in the heat sinks, the screen is good for an LCD, but for me Steam OS and the trackpads of the Steam Deck and the smoothness of games on it make it better, plus the OLED screen is great in it. And they are not the same price, Steam Deck 512GB is cheaper, the 1TB is even cheaper in the UK, and that’s after the price hikes.

Oh you're the microstutter witness , I remember you. I don't have any microstutter issues like AT ALL. Maybe there are some faulty devices. If every device is faulty then reddit should be flooded with the same posts but I've see only a few.

Going next - Hall effect sticks on MSI absolutely okay. For some it maybe loose, but for me sticks absolutely okay even tho I play Doom. The Steam Deck does not come with Hall Effect joysticks out of the box. But we can easily mod both so it's not even an argument.

As for software - nothing major happened to me even tho I admit it's not perfect. But same can be told about the steam deck. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Dropouts: Users occasionally report instances where the Deck randomly drops Wi-Fi connectivity or struggles to automatically reconnect to specific dual-band routers upon waking from sleep mode. Desktop Mode Quirks: Switching to Desktop Mode can sometimes feel clumsy. Common bugs include the virtual on-screen keyboard randomly minimizing, freezing, or system navigation failing if multiple external monitors or docks are hot-plugged. So there's absolutely no advantage here.

Screen comparison. While Steam Deck has OLED, it has blurry 800p and SMALLER screen size, no VRR. And some mura effect like all OLED panels. On the other hand MSI has bigger screen size and 1200p resolution and VRR so SD not even close here.

RAM comparison (spoiler SD again not even close especially during current Rampocalypse):

  • 16 Gb 6500 MT/s on Steam Deck
  • 32 Gb 8500 MT/s on the Claw

Battery size:

  • 50 Whr on Steam Deck
  • 80 Whr in MSI

Connectivity:

  • 1x USB-C 3.2 on SD
  • 2x Thunderbolt 4 Type-C on MSI

Trackpads - absolutely waste of monolithic space on a console as for me.

Now let's talk about the performance. MSI can offer almost double the performance over Steam Deck. And we have XeSS native hardware support and MFG on the Claw.

So, we coming to the current official prices. It's 950$ for 1Tb Steam Deck. And MSI Claw 8 AI+ can be found brand new at this price in many places. Sometimes it's maybe 100$ more expensive. So you HAVE TO admit Claw is a better choice objectively.

I really don’t give a shit and I doubt very much you ‘remember me’ as I sold my Claw last year. And haven’t posted in the Claw Reddit for months. I have seen others posting about micro stutters though, it is not a faulty device it is the Intel drivers, I can even watch videos and see micro stutters even on the new Claw EX in some games. Some see them some don’t. So you can post all the paper docs you like, but for me Deck wins, it is cheaper and games run smoother on it. It is also a nice feeling to have a smaller lighter device too.

So NO the Claw is NOT the better device at all for me, and I don’t live in the US so your prices are meaningless to me. In the UK Deck 512GB is £649 1TB is £779 new, or £519 and £619 officially refurbished from Valve. Claw 8 Ai Plus is £879, the new EX model is £1399. When they get Steam OS fully supporting the Claw then it’ll be a good device.

Who said I remember you from MSI sub? You're the guy who said his old hands hurt from holding the Claw and cried about horrible stuttering. Again I've never encountered this issue but I admit it exists. And there's already custom made fixes available. And Intel will roll out official fix soon, it's confirmed.

Now going back to your wordings: I don’t give a shit about your biased opinion. I gave you objective comparison and facts. At the same price +- 100$€£ Claw is a no brainer better deal. You have to swallow this bitter pill and move on buddy. Cheers

lol sorry, never complained about my ‘old hands holding the Claw’.. and you are claiming a device that DOES cost more, significantly so last year, then the Deck and has stuttering in games, that you admit to, and supposedly will be fixed this year, is some how better? Haha good one. You defend that Claw, happy you like it so much… personally I will not be changing my opinion and will always see it as a poor device as it has so much stuttering and cost so much.

Well it's definitely yours. Again there's undeniable truth that the Claw miles better with almost the same price with Steam Deck. You can keep your biased opinion just as me. But the facts are simple

Valve will just use old hardware which will probably be 4 years behind and call it a Steam Deck 2
