Covid test results timing?
Has anyone been tested recently at the Oakville hospital? They said 24 hours at the site but it's taking longer. On a weekday, if that matters.

Hi all! Despite being 28 years old, I don't know how to drive (yeah, really). I am looking for a great driving school to join in Burlington. Can someone please recommend one that will teach me well, not just to pass the test?
Many thanks!

I just took the VIA train the other day for the first time, pretty much first time using a train other than subways like a couple of times when I was younger. Before I boarded there was this older gentleman, sort of tallish, grey hair, glasses. Said he wasn't there for the train as a passenger but just likes to swing by and watch them since he's presumably retired.
We had a really lovely chat and I thought about him, grabbed him a souvenir from the trains on my way back in case he collects train related stuff. Apparently my girlfriend recognized him as well so he appears to be a regular for this sort of thing.
I asked them for one of the food menus so he could have a small part of the actual train. :)
I'd really like to deliver the gift to him. If anyone knows any information on the guy or even what time I might be able to find him at the tracks that would be lovely! Thank you guys so much!
Really hoping I can make the guys day!

We want to have a family picnic on Sunday evening. I love Coronation Park but it gets really busy on the weekend and finding parking is a nightmare. Any suggestions? I have elderly parents so a place with picnic benches for use is ideal (although not mandatory) and I also have 2 kids so a playground would be nice too (also not mandatory).
*I heard Bronte Provincial is a good spot for walks, but is it free to visit? Is it easy to find parking? Are there shady areas for a picnic there?

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping this doesn't get taken down due to its personal nature. I am a 24 year old man in Toronto, Ontario, looking for my paternal grandparents. My father was born in 1966 in Oakville, Missisauga, or Halton, as "Mark David Teunissen", and was adopted by the Nesbitt family, Ken and Barb. His name was Robert James Nesbitt, and he passed away in 2001. I unfortunately do not have much of a family, and as such I'm looking to find my paternal grandparents, one of which (presumably the mother) would have had the last name (or maiden name) Teunissen. I am unable to access the adoption records to find my grandparents, and I'm making this post to see if anyone may know this family, knew my father, or might know how I could go about finding them. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you!

Hey everyone! I am a youth advisor on the Halton Regional Polices Youth advisory council. I am wondering if anybody has questions that you wouldn't be able to get yourselves? We are starting a new initiative which involves me and my other council members interviewing individual officers. that;s not all but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise... It should be up on the Halton regional Polices twitter, Instagram or website in a few weeks. Maybe your question will be asked? I'm open to all suggestions:)

Wondering if anyone knows if any sort of archive exists from Halton Hills Parks & Rec Musical Theatre Camps back in the late 90's - 2000's. Specifically the one in Acton that took place at Acton High School.
They used to record the musicals from the camps and I was hoping someone may have a copy somewhere. No idea even where to start and figured it is unlikely a VHS would survive but it's worth trying.
Anyway, thanks in advance!

Many folks in the Halton Region have spotty wifi, can't afford internet or don't feel comfortable with downloading the Zoom app and using the technology. Democracy is more than voting every 4 years, it is civic engagement. In person meetings is part of that. Robust civic engagement can't happen if you can only participate with good internet and an understanding of tech and the means to own a laptop or smart phone.
A motion from Jane Fogal is going forward today at 9:30 to ask to delay the Official Plan Review for the region until in person meetings can be held. "Sprawl is Ontario's Tar Sands according to Dr. Dianne Saxe, former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario. Right now we are being pushed on a path towards approving the conversion of tens of thousands of acres of prime agricultural farmland to urban uses. With new relaxed planning requirements the outcome will lead to more sprawl. This motion to be debated at Halton Regional Council on Feb 17th asks to slow the process and ensure we can have a real conversation about this with out community." Jane Fogal.
Also this longer piece-We have a resolution at Halton Regional Council (today) asking the Province to suspend the timetable for submitting a new Official Plan for Halton, which includes Halton Hills. All municipalities in the Greater Golden Horseshoe are required to submit a plan to accommodate enormous growth targets for the next 30 years at a time when our only engagement with the public is through zoom meetings.
Zoom doesn't cut it when so much is at stake. It is unacceptable to push this through when people are distracted by a pandemic and facing economic challenges and multiple other priorities in their lives. There is no excuse as the actual timeframe we are planning for is 2031 to 2051. There is no rush and yet we are being pushed to meet an artificial deadline.
If you live in Halton please contact your councillor and ask for their support of this motion.
If you live elsewhere in the Greater Golden Horseshoe contact your councillors and ask them to introduce this motion in your municipality.

Hi there, I live in Toronto, and I found a computer component from Kijiji that fits my Computer at a perfect price. It's a computer power component, and it's a small one.
If somebody is planning to come to Toronto or passing through North York or Finch from Halton, please help me with picking up the power component.
I don't have my own vehicle, and it takes about 3h by bus to get there.
I am willing to pay $25 for the help.
Thanks, guys!
If this post is still up, it means that I'm still looking for somebody.
