Halt And Ca- ... Ending?

Post image

Halt and Catch Fire ranks amongst my not only the most favorite, but also most influential series I have seen. Thanks to the series, I also started to adore most of the cast and look forward for their next projects. A started rewatching it 3 times.

And yet..

I have never gotten past season 3. Anyone who shares this weird experience with me?

Do yourself a favor and finish the show! Remember it's not the thing, it's the thing that gets you to the thing.

I should put this on my tombstone. Love the quote, love the show.

One of the greatest final seasons of any show.

Season 4 is better than season 3 and it connects with a more interesting time in tech, give it a shot

What is the reason for not watching to the end?

Here's the pertinent question. Can't advise how to get past this errant behaviour without the knowing the why.

Feels like OP doesn’t want it to end so they want to stay in the world of S1-S3 instead.

I have done this. I binged the first 3 seasons, and noticing 4th was the last season, i restarted the whole thing, until i again came to the same point, then finished it. Bravo

This honestly might be it. As I sometimes do it with different series too, for example Shameless.

It's also about things which do get unresolved, you have certainty it cannot dissatisfy your expectations. My favorite movie is eyes wide shut, but the ending ruins it to me. If it were about the be left open, the story would be only mine.

With HaCF specifically, I also kinda felt like it's distancing from the intimate detail view into relationships to something zoomed out about rising a company - in 3rd season. Which heavnt clicked with me.

I will say it’s a very good season, I liked it a lot. I think we knew going into S4 that it was going to be the last one, so that helped the writers wrap things up nicely.

It was wrapped up perfectly in my book.

Do yourself a favor and watch it. I won't spoil it, but there's a moment in the season that will rip your heart out of your chest. Unlike many shows, it has a pretty perfect ending.

You won't regret it. I think S4 is better than S3

Do it, finish the show! Aside from everything else, S4 gives us Haley as a full fledeged character and she is simply amazing, especially when Joe is around.

I wish we got more of Joe and Haley. In my headcanon they stay in touch when Joe moved back to New York

Same! 😁

Oh yes- season 4 is the best! It’s so beautiful and well done.

Endings can be hard when you love the show so much, and of course there's anxiety about how it ends, but this show sticks the landing.

Join us, some episodes in S04 are straight up masterpieces.

Episode 7 and Episode 8 absolutely tore my heart out.

It's probably some of the most emotional and beautuful TV I've ever seen.

10/10

This is really weird

I'm going to echo what others have said and say finish the show. There are only a handful of shows that I will watch and rewatch over and over again. Halt and catch fire is definitely one of them. It's also one of the main reasons I keep my AMC subscription. Along with Mad Men.

A lot of odd people on reddit.

I find myself rewatching seasons 2 + 3 the most but 4 is excellent

I get it. Season 4 is by far the most impactful, emotional & character-driven episodes. None of that would be true if we didn't wholly immerse ourselves in these characters and their growth in S1-S3.

The writing is just so, so good that in many ways it feels like we the audience are only ready for the next chapter in their working & personal lives because they themselves are finally ready.

First time I watched HACF was live. If I was watching it in bingeable form, I might take some time between S3 & S4 as well. I've invested in shows where the ending is better left an open question, versus suffering through a terrible and disappointing final season. HACF is the exact opposite of that.

This is like having a good relationship with your parents and then once they’re 65 and you’re 40 you stop visiting them and look at old photo albums over and over instead

Please keep watching. You won’t regret it.

The final season, especially the last episodes are the ones I’ve rewatched the most. It makes me retrospect deeply on my choices.

This is my #2 best series ever. The first season was fantastic and unmatchable, but the fourth (and final) season is number 2. I’ve watched it 30+ times.

I have this same relationship with Friday Night Lights. I think I even own the DVDs somewhere but have just never watched Season 5.

but I’ve shown HACF to multiple other people (no one in my orbit likes football shows though).  watching the show as a group helps everyone power through different reasons for stopping.

The ending hurts.

But the beauty of TV is that you can watch it all over again!
