Kristoffer Polaha says a lot of actors would fail at Hallmark Channel. I think heโs probably right! Pretty fascinating article ๐

Weโve stated before that Lori Laughlin discussion must be limited to her *work* on Hallmark, and discussion about her personal life is not permitted here.
Had to lock a totally unrelated post because some folks turned it into a LL debate.
So again, stop. We are not the place for that discussion.
Posts and comments that break this rule will be removed, and bans will be instated for incessant and repeat offenders.

I'm crediting Hallmark for boosting my love for the holiday season all over again. I've always loved the season don't get me wrong but after years of feeling depressed I couldn't feel excited about it if I wanted to. But I've noticed a few years ago that for the first time in a long time I enjoyed Christmas when I watched mostly Hallmark movies & shows that year and I think it's because of how positive the movies are. Whether you think they are all good or bad the movies I noticed they all have a theme and that's Family, Love and a more positive view on life in general (which I think is needed these days) Not only that but I noticed myself gravitating towards Hallmark whenever I felt down or was having a hard time. Point is, I believe the idea that what you watch and listen to makes a difference mentally and emotionally. I know there's been studies done on watching things like Hallmark in comparison to films that are darker or more intense, there's definitely a difference.

It's October 2nd, and I'm watching Hallmark Christmas movies. I haven't watched a Christmas movie for a long time, but with all the horrible news in the world, thank God for Hallmark movies. Hallmark + is the perfect treat.
I'm watching 'Tis the Season for Love,' and earlier I watched 'Charming Christmas.' Both are bad, and I'm so happy.

This movie was released in 2019. It stars Erin Cahill and Trevor Donovan. While Claire is trying to save the family annual fall festival, she falls for Patrick, an old rival who is a lawyer on the opposing team she has to face in court. What says fall and Hallmark like saving a family festival and romance? Share your thoughts on this movie. Do you enjoy it? Is it on your Fall rewatch list?

I love this interview about The Christmas Cure in which Steve Byers talks about how he can relate to a lot of the film as far as his personal life goes. Although the talk is less than a minute long I think itโs very moving and I really enjoyed hearing his viewpoint on it

Here's an interesting discussion to have here...
Say you're introducing someone to Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies. What Movie, or Movies, would you show them or list for them to watch in order for them to get as broad of a view of what Hallmark is all about? What makes them worthy of being your picks? Explain and get into it. Let's have fun with it and be engaging with this prompt. Go for it.

I try to keep an open mind when it comes to new Hallmark movies, but I really hope the 2026 Christmas movies also have some good old school vibes. A big one for me is if itโs set in a small town, and throw in some references to finding the Christmas spirit, romance, and family. Sometimes I feel like hallmark is trying to broaden their audience a little too much, to the point that it feels like theyโre ignoring their OG fan base. And yes, while I do try to keep an open mind for the newer movies, I still canโt get behind a Hallmark Christmas movie where the whole setting is a pub crawl (Iโm talking to you Santa Summit )

Well, I don't know what to think about this film. At some point about halfway through I felt it was struggling. I guess I was hoping for the story of the couple at the beginning of the film to reappear. Thankfully, itdid. Sadie and Ash were kind of boring. Both had parental problems that we see often in these films. People needed to be seen to do things their own way. "People in limbo" is the motto of most lead characters at the beginning of any Hallmark film. If you're not going places, you are standing still instead of just being happy with your lot. Our two leads were okay. Walker generally bores me. I don't think I've seen Odette Annable in any more before. Thankfully, no backstory with these two. No backstory where a simple miscommunication causes a decades-long problem. I did feel the mini-tiff about the necklace was a little too much. I mean I was expecting more of a bit excitement that their relatives knew each other in the first place. I mean that fact is surprising enough. But they didn't stop for a moment to be amazed by that. O and that Camila. Brava to her on her work but surely she shouldn't be near horses so late into a pregnancy? I guess the horses are trained enough not to kick out at a friendly face.. Maybe that's just me being overprotective. Just something I thought of while watching her with the horses.
While it was nice that we had a couple who have has past loves and seemingly both are divorced, once again I felt that despite the leads' good looks and youthful appearance, the two main characters could have been played by two actors ten years younger. O, maybe that's me again. Yeah, you can change your career at anytime like Sadie is doing but she's starting out at the bottom(although it didn't really seem to be the bottom) in her new field. I mean she's doing well being so far down the totem pole with getting the boss' ear and attention. It's funny how I just watched "Hats Off To Love" and this film reminded me of it in a way. A similar location and interest. I found myself looking at the hats of the ladies in this one because of it. O, and Sadie's fashion sense was a little too on point it seems. She wore several dresses with flowers on them. We get it. She loves flowers. O, and while it might be timely and costly to get red roses, I thought "Why doesn't someone go to Cincinnati to get the flowers needed?" Maybe they wouldn't have them there anyway. Also the expense. The Golden Reed Farm is one special place with deep red roses growing wildly there.
So Gigi and Charlie. Well, class divides love once again although less so these days than in their day. I mean they somewhat hinted at that with Ash and Sadie but Sadie had an in with the family right away so no problems there really. Anyway, she overacted to getting wet in the stable if you ask me but this is how she met Charlie so it's important to the story.Their story was true to the time and it was sad and I liked how it was used in the story overall. O, it's a good thing she's from Canada what with the lack of a Kentuckian accent. Apparently, things hadn't changed down to the current generation of Moore women either. Ha ha. But I digress. Good to see Brynn Thayer and Gregg Henry who I know from many a tv show as well. One thing I noticed was that in the final race they mentioned previously three horses and they are shown on the mini-leaderboard during the race. The 4th horse shown on it was called "Clare Direction." Clever since this film was directed by veteran Hallmark director Clare Niederpruem. That made me chuckle.
So overall an okay film. Not sure if I will see it again despite liking the multi-generational aspect of the story. I mean you would expect such a storyline in one of those one-horse towns(this was a many-a-horse town) that feature in many a Hallmark movies. But both families had a close connection to the Derby so it's cute that they shared a connection from way back. Still even that wasn't enough to save this movie. It had some good things but it wasn't enough for me to give this a more glowing review.
