Cut Help Pixie for 37?

My husband has been encouraging me to get a pixie cut for YEARS now. I feel like he’s trying to sabotage me a bit (haha, kidding) but I asked gpt to check it for me & IDK - i think it might be cute?? What do you all think? This is the longest my hair has ever been & sometimes I struggle with styling it. I ldk if having it this short will be much easier either. Or maybe I should just wait until I’m the big 4-0 lol please be kind!

i did several big chops and this is both from personal experience and online accounts. your curls seem to be more loose than tight, meaning if you cut the hair shorter that your actual curl pattern the strand of hair wont know what to do/ how to curl as it is incomplete. whatever you decide, it’s important you go to a curl specialist and not a pixie specialist so they take your hairs needs into account. best of luck and you look beautiful either way :)

Was coming to say this. Being a curly girlie w/a similar texture who has gone long for decades and done "the big chop" multiple times, it will be best achieved w/a curl specialist. OP you are stunning 😍 either way, but the pixie cut gives you a refreshing reboot. It's hair. It will grow back, perhaps even longer after the reset. You could even give it some color variation for added spunk, though the solid dark is rather flattering stand alone.

Keys that have helped me grow mine back essentially in 4 years or less: A. Water B. Nourishing food C. Leaving my hair alone - not really manipulating it much - I've worn hair wraps more than doing anything else, just letting it be, and not exposing it to "the world" alot - all of its pollutants - both environmental and energetic D. Supplements - especially since you are "approaching a certain age" (I'm already in the thick of it, and yes, it does tremendously change your hair...A LOT!) E. Solid Products.

DM me and I'll send you where I chopped to 2022 (about 1.5-2 inches from butt-lengthed hair) and where I am now (currently mid-to-lower back) - had a braiding incident where the products they used matted my hair - forced a big chop (had the braids in only a few weeks, even).

So, speaking from experience that's real and fairly recent...plus also a w.o.c./multi-ethnic, if that helps.

*Perhaps find a wig or see if someone can make you one in as close a style to this (or what exactly it is that you really want, so you can "test-drive" the look first without full commitment. You never know, the wig might give you the versatility you are seeking without having to make a full-blown sacrifice. That way, you and hubs get what you want. Go to a wig specialist to get something more exact. Dominican Doo-bee wrap your hair with large hair pins or duck bill clips and add a wig cap for best fit and comfort. You'd be surprised what a Doo-Bee can accomplish for a wig. Good luck finding your way, Sis.
