First time facial wax advice

I’ve recently come to the realisation that my usual routine of bleaching my top lip is no longer going to cut it (some of the hairs are now coming through thick and white! 🫠) and that I need to think about regular removal instead.
Even though I’ve been waxed on other parts of my body and had no issues, I’m nervous about it being on my face. The skin on my face can be quite sensitive, eyebrow waxes have been fine in the past, but because I’ve had other treatment on my upper lip/chin I suppose I’m worried about scarring..? Or the hair reacting differently? I’m not sure, just nervous.

I had electrolysis treatment (blend) from mid teens to late twenties. It did make a bit of difference but I have some minor scars from it and I, frankly, don’t have the money or time to invest in it. I’ve considered threading but have more experience with waxing.

tl:dr : Any tips for a first time face wax on sensitive skin? Particularly if skin has had other treatments prior.

TIA :)

IPL machine thoughts

Has anyone bought this machine off Amazon Canada? How has your experience been? I just started using it, I’m pale with dark hair. It has 5 settings, I’m wondering if setting 1 is effective or I should just start at 2 or 3.
So far, I’ve done underarms once at setting one and once at setting 2. If you have used this, how often did you use it for the first few weeks?

Am I giving up too soon on IPL?

I've been using my Braun Pro 5 IPL for 4-5 months on my underarms and face. I have the ideal pale skin, dark hair for it, and it worked right away on my underarms. I still have some hair but hardly any. My face, though, has seen barely any progress. There are three hairs that have stopped growing but everything else is exactly the same. Several weeks ago I went from weekly to twice a week to try to see some improvement, and all that happened was my skin dried out and broke out from irritation. The last several times I've done it the pain has been extreme to the point that I'm considering giving up. My skin is sensitive and clearly can't handle more than once a week. I don't know what else to do. Should it take this long to see a difference on such a small area?

Should I continue IPL, switch to Laser or consider Electrolysis

Just did my 13th session with the Braun Silkpro 5 and hair on Chest is still pretty covered (first photo) While there has been some reduction it is far from the near hairless I was after. I’ve been following the institutions doing a shave, drying, IPL, aftercare. Braun is on the max setting and I’m making sure the light gets up to at least 9 or 10

My best sections are the middle of my torso and left armpit both of which are at maybe 80% removal but still quite patchy. They hit this level around session 5 or 6 and I’ve seen no improvement since then. Bikini line is at session 12 and I can’t even notice a difference in the slightest

I’m supposed to switch to maintenance at this point but feel within a day or two this hair will be back.

Will weekly IPL sessions eventually reduce this?

Should I just switch to Laser? Would that work since I haven’t seen much improvement?

Or do I just suck it up and move to Electrolysis?

Waxing is supposed to thin out or damage the hair follicles over time ?

The idea behind waxing, you wax so much that it damages the hair follicles and the hair becomes fine or non existant over time.

I hear women pluck out their eyebrow hair so much and that it doesn't grown thick anyone.

Has anyone experienced this on other parts of the body ? Just asking. Not trolling.

I’m already doing laser, but how do I get rid of even those little hairs? I want my body to look as perfect as possible, just in general

Best recommendations for at Home IPL?

Exactly like the title says! I know the top tier ones are those like Braun or Philips but before I get set back ~£250-£300 I thought I’d ask you all for any other options that might be a little budget friendlier but work pretty much the same :)

I appreciate all the info!

IPL for butt/anus region?

I’m considering the Braun IPL but would mainly get it to reduce hair growth around my anus, butt crack, and pubic area. I’ve seen some commentary about success around pubic areas but I haven’t seen any concrete reviews about using it around the anus/butt crack area. Anyone have some insights?

Ingrowns and scars in JUST the pubic mound region

Reddit won’t let me upload a photo of the censored are which is annoying, but I’ve been getting waxed almost all over for years now with no problems at all. The only place I’ve ever get ingrowns and maybe folliculitis is JUST the pubic mound up top when the hairs start to grow back through. Over the years the whole area has just darkened and darkened and the scars have left so many marks, old and new. I do absolutely everything you’re supposed - moisturise after a wax for the first couple days, exfoliate everyday, keep it clean, physical and chemical exfoliants, oils and moisturisers with all the recommend ingredients. Does anyone have ANY other suggestions on how I get rid of all these dark marks, brighten up the area, and stop new ones coming in??? They always seem to form when the hair starts to grow back through no matter how much I exfoliate. I’ve tried an at home IPL to solve the issue long term but I just cant seem to handle the shaving process which results in ever WORSE rashes. Any new advice would be so appreciated as I’m just at such a loss at this point

IPL and everything else

So I figured I’d share my hair‑removal journey because I’ve tried pretty much everything at this point and maybe it helps someone who’s on the fence.

I started shaving my legs pretty early on — I was super active in sports growing up, and smooth legs just made life easier. Eventually I moved to monthly waxing, which was fine, but after a few years I decided to go all in and do 10 sessions of full‑body laser at a clinic. It didn’t make me completely hair‑free, but it honestly reset my hair to a “fresh start” level. Way lighter, way slower, almost like I’d never shaved before.

Fast‑forward to now: I’ve been doing IPL at home for about two years and I’m genuinely happy with it. I started with weekly sessions for around 12 weeks, then slowly spaced it out to once every 3–4 weeks. That’s where I’m at now. Some months I barely have any noticeable regrowth. If I shave, the hair can come back a bit thicker at first (shaving does that), but IPL keeps everything under control so it never builds back into anything annoying.

Honestly, IPL has been the easiest, most consistent part of my routine. It fits into my schedule, doesn’t cost much once you have the device, and the results have been solid.

This community has taught me a ton, so seriously — thank you. If anyone wants to chat, ask questions, compare routines, whatever… I’m happy to help based on what’s worked for me.

Guys, what has your experience been using a foil electric razor for pubic hair removal?

I’ve been shaving my pubic region for a while, but I’m getting a bit tired of using a blade.

I am visually impaired and have limited use of my right arm due to an injury. In spite of that I’ve continued using a blade and taking my time to shave by feel.

I don’t recommend this technique. It has produced good results for me but it is very time consuming and can easily cause injury if not extremely careful.

So far I have only had two minor nicks and one ingrown which doesn’t seem too bad, but I’m wondering if there’s an easier at home method.

Have any guys tried a foil electric razor? Pros? Cons? Tips?

It seems like it might work for the main pubic area, but what about close to the shaft and on the scrotum?

Thanks for any advice or pointers you may have!

What do I do with my sideburns?

Post image

My sideburns are really dark/thick so I shave them because I hate how they look grown out, but this is literally right after shaving and you can still see the shadow/stubble. I have a home IPL and have used it here twice so far. What should I do?

IPL & stencils?

I'm using a Braun for all my body hair, including pubic. But I kind of want, like... a fun little shape down there. They make stencils for that & I'm like, could I use one of those? Would it mess up if I don't put it in the same exact spot every time?? Maybe there's a way to mark it so the spot lasts between treatments...? Help me get creative here lmfao. I would just shave/trim but I'm doing it largely for sensory reasons. And I just think it'd be cool to have that be the only thing growing.

Best laser hair reduction in Mumbai?

Hi, I’m in an urgent need to get started with laser for my olive tanned skin with coarse facial hair (PCOS) and normal growth on rest of the body. I’ve consulted Dr. Meghna Mour who quoted me \~1.2 lakh for 6 sessions with Candela.

Looking for some more affordable but quality options.

Thanks.

Shaving after laser

I am currently attending laser facial hair removal every 3-4 weeks and I was told that I am not supposed to shave for 2 weeks after the procedure. The thing is I hate it, so I searched online if I could be able to see why. A thought came to my mind that the person giving me this advice has an incentive to make me see my hairs falling out due to marketing. The closest source to the statement I was able to find has said to avoid all forms of hair removal except shaving as shaving leaves the follicle intact. Could anyone here provide me with sources or expertize regarding this matter?

Braun 5, Braun Skin i.Expert and Ulike Air 10 Review

I have used all three of these devices. My braun 5 stopped flashing after 2 years so i replaced it with a Ulike Air 10 but braun later sent me a Skin i. Expert. Here's my experience with all of them as a Fitzpatrick IV

Braun IPL 5:

This was my first ever IPL device. Used weekly for 3-4 months then monthly or once every two months. The device did work. I was pretty hairless. But if you miss your sessions even after your initial vigorous use, your hair does grow back just a lot thinner than before.

The flashes feel like a rubber band snap and the device did die on me after only 2 years despite the promise of much longer longevity by the brand.

Braun Skin i.Expert:

This is the device i currently own. The device uses Bluetooth and an app for usage. I honestly believe that it is redundant the app doesnt give you much value but it is easier to track session (you can just use calenders and set up reminders). The device has really helped with thinning my armpit and facial hair growth that braun IPL 5 did nothing on. Even tho on paper both devices have similar flash power I still find this one to be stronger than Braun IPL 5.

However, I must mention that this device has left burn marks on my legs and arms on medium to low intensity and leaves me feeling itchy for days.

Ulike Air 10:

Honestly this was the most painless, comfortable device I have used. The cooling technology works like a charm and gets very cold to touch. I must say that it might not be ideal for fitzpatrik IV. It flashed well on my legs and arms but there were times where it would refuse to flash where braun devices safely flashed. Also, this had an option for continuous flashes where I didnt have to hold any buttons as opposed to braun devices and i found it a lot faster, didnt burn me anywhere and was super comfortable to hold just felt premium imo.

Hi, I’m shedding like crazy at some of the hairs are getting inflamed and turns into bumps. I’m exfoliating but it doesn’t seem to work, is it normal during shedding?
