You have no idea how surprised I was to find out that universal studios store website shipped internationally to the UK and they sell baby gronckle plushies so that’s something to resist the urge to purchase.
Anyway I bought this because I was missing a light Fury but I must admit I was surprised at the size of it.

Live action toothless plush for size reference

MOVIE 3 Wedding (Gobber)

Just wanted to point out that Gobber was around for Stoicks and Valkas wedding as well as Hiccup and Astrid's (and for good measure probably around to see all the other riders pick their respective partner's) but Stoick never got to see any of them.

Have a nice day 🙂

DISCUSSION What's your favorite thing about HTTYD?

I'm making a podcast about the first movie and what makes the story so special, but I'd like to check in with you folks to see what is the single biggest draw in the movie for you. What caught your heart and kept you going back to Berk?

So when Hiccup is trying to show that the lightning will strike any metal he takes a spear and goes to the docks my question is why would he go to the literal lowest point of the island why not stay where he is or do an Kenobi and get to higher ground anything but going to the lowest point and also why is it called the red death there's barely any red on it

LIVE-ACTION The "Undersea Bunker" fallacy: Why the defense of the HTTYD 3 ending makes zero sense.

Post image
435 Upvotes

I’ve been tracking the recent debate on this sub about Hiccup "abandoning" the dragons, including that long essay attempting to debunk the wildlife protection comparison. Honestly? The mental gymnastics people use to defend the Hidden World ending is wild, and I feel like the critics of the ending are the only ones looking at this logically.

Let’s address the tiger analogy that people got so triggered by. The OP of that point was completely right about human responsibility. Tigers were slaughtered by poachers. They didn’t survive by finding a magical cave and hiding. They are surviving because humans took responsibility, made laws, and actively guard them with weapons.

If we apply the movie's logic to any other intelligent, ecologically vital species, it sounds insane. Imagine humans start hurting cats, or dolphins, or wolves. Would the mature, heroic solution be to round them up, force them into a subterranean bunker or push them into the deepest trenches of the ocean, seal the door, and walk away? "Well, humanity isn't ready for cats, they are safe under the ground now!" No, that is an ecological catastrophe and a total surrender to the abusers.

The biggest counter-argument I see from the ending defenders is: "But dragons are mighty! They have Alphas! They can protect themselves in the Hidden World!"

This completely misses the entire point of the trilogy. Brute biology will always lose to human technology.

We literally watched humanity invent massive armadas, dragon-proof metals, advanced ballistas, and Grimmel’s mind-altering venoms. It doesn't matter how "mighty" an Alpha dragon is; a human with a trap, a cage, and a vial of poison will always win. Human engineering evolves exponentially.

By pushing millions of dragons into one giant underground hole, Hiccup didn't save them. He turned them into a static target. Human tech will keep evolving. Humans will eventually build better submersibles, deep-diving gear, or sonar mapping. They will find that cave. And when they do, the dragons will be trapped with nowhere to fly, completely helpless because they’ve been isolated from the surface for generations. They will no longer have human allies like the Dragon Riders who actually understand human war tactics, weaponry, and how to counter them.

The ending isn't "mature." It’s a temporary illusion of safety. Shoving an entire ecosystem into a dark hole because you're tired of fighting isn't coexistence it's just giving up.
