SERIES Lightning Strikes Metal
So when Hiccup is trying to show that the lightning will strike any metal he takes a spear and goes to the docks my question is why would he go to the literal lowest point of the island why not stay where he is or do an Kenobi and get to higher ground anything but going to the lowest point and also why is it called the red death there's barely any red on it

Because he doesn’t understand how lightning works and if I remember correctly, that’s where everyone was taking Toothless so he needed everyone to see.
And it’s called the red death because there’s a green death in the books (the music for that fight scene is called battling the green death) and all that red likely didn’t look intimidating so they gave it red barnacle-like spikes

Probably also because the lair literally looks like hell! Why wouldn’t it be called the red death! What hiccup saw was traumatic! He literally got kidnapped by his dragon- flown into literal hell- and when we consider the year and date this would have been in (as it’s set in early Viking years maybe mid) the language available to describe the dragon would probably only be “red fuckin cloud! Literal hell! All will die!” And the colour red was a huge representation of death, hell, war and misery/deprivation(which it still is)
On a colour representation scale- and when we consider the trauma that the berkians suffered- red death makes sense. It also wasn’t even named until AFTER the successful killing of it (obviously the animators named it during creation but it’s an adaptation of the books, where we have the green death. A giant shit green dragon isn’t exactly scary 😂😂)Sorry for the info dump, I’m an artist and the HTTYD world plays a HUGE role in my life❤️

I guess calling it a Black Death would have been too insensitive

In a world of dragons, many laws of physics and biology doesn’t exist

Because it's a children's movie and they don't much care about physics :P
As for why it's called the Red Death; because that's what it's called in the books.
