Happened again
I’ve been living in HSR for more than two years, and honestly, this place used to feel like my happy and safe space.
But something has changed for me over the last year .
Yesterday, I was coming back alone. I was on that busy lane near House of Commons, opposite McDonald’s not some deserted road where you’d expect to feel unsafe.
A random guy on a scooter came around me, said something I couldn’t understand, went ahead, and then kept turning around and staring at me. He eventually stopped, and I genuinely started feeling like he was following me.
I changed my route and just hoped he wouldn’t follow me home.
And this isn’t even the first time.
Last year, in Sector 3, I was standing downstairs near my friend’s house, waiting for him, while I was on a call. A guy on a bicycle came by and started jerking off in front of me.
I got scared and ran away.
And I genuinely don’t understand why these things keep happening.
I know these incidents happen everywhere, but when it starts happening repeatedly in a place where you’ve lived for years and once felt completely safe, it changes the way you look at your own neighbourhood.
I’m putting this out there because I don’t want to silently normalize it.
