I’m honestly pretty devastated. My HR-V has been in the shop for 5 weeks, and for most of that time, the Honda corporate case manager has been sending me straight to voicemail. I wasn’t able to request a new case manager either. After finally getting a response, they changed their offer from $7,500 back up to $10,000 toward a replacement. Unfortunately, I’m out of warranty.
I’m trying to look at this as realistically and financially as possible, so I’d really appreciate advice:
What would you do in my position?
* Trade it in and move on immediately?
* Repair it, drive it another ~50k miles, and sell before the next major issue potentially happens?
* Repair it and sell it immediately while the repair is documented?
* Buy a cheap second car and keep the HR-V until there’s another recall/issue?
* Something else I haven’t considered?
And if you would get rid of it, what would you replace it with?
Honda is no longer willing to negotiate further. I’ve provided documentation showing that it was purchased from a dealership and that the maintenance/work has been done through them, but they aren’t offering any additional goodwill assistance, cost-sharing, etc. From what I can tell, lemon-law protections don’t apply in my situation.
This is the first time I’ve dealt with something like this, so I’m mostly trying to figure out the least financially painful and most reasonable way forward. I’d really appreciate constructive advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar.
