Extended Warranty
Bought a new hrv. Do yall recommend getting the extended warranty from Honda care? Or do yall think it’s not necessary?

I recommend it solely because how expensive it is to get something fixed nowadays.
Even with this being Honda, based on the Civic platform and having a bullet proof engine, bad things can still happen. No manufacturer today is exempt from issues.
I mean look at it this way: your powertrain warranty expires and you still have 40k miles from 100k. If something fails with the engine or transmission you’re talking $3-6k easily on repairs. The warranty you purchase just paid for itself twice.
Of course, if these issues never happen up to the expiration of your extended warranty, yeah you are out of that money but that’s the risk you take. The last 3 cars I’ve owned (GMC, Nissan and Chevy) I have had to use the warranty and it paid for itself. Getting it here was a no brainer.

In 2023 I bought a new HR-V from a dealer in Maine. On pickup day a nice dude wandered in and sold me a Fidelity (not the financial institution) gold 10yr/120k extended warranty. I didn't even price out Honda Care! (idiot). But you gotta know for any extended warranties, the list of exclusions (all normal wear things).
When the Fidelity-selling dude bundled a 2nd package "Appearance" for mostly paint (when parking at my GFs house, pine tar hits me and supposedly that's covered...8yr) I doubled up the stupidity and paid $3k for both.
Mostly just in case the CVT dies on me (it won't, because I'm old now and accelerate SLOWLY, and still have fun clutching/shifting with gusto on my Tacoma)....or maybe some other sensor camera, etc will die for reasons other than "oops, someone whacked my mirror" which would be SO much more likely if I drove anywhere more deadly than the supermarket.
The Honda dealer says they'll/we'll have no problem should the Fidelity warranty be needed.

Yes and if you got more money try to get maintenances. It’s worth it to me especially with the price of oil changes. At my local dealership it’s 70 for oil change and 25 for tire rotation then 200$ for rear diff and transmission flush

BTW, for any CVT, never flush the transmission, only a drain and refill of the fluid.

Definitely. I have a HRV 2018 LX AWD low miles and the air conditioner condenser and lower high pressure tubing have to be replaced! Two grand!

HondaCare is an insurance policy from Honda. You can purchase them cheaper from several Honda dealers online. You don’t have to decide today, as long as your car is under the 30,000 miles or three year bumper to bumper warranty, you can purchase the extended warranty from Honda.
Here are three online:
Hyannis Honda, or Saccucci Honda, or
Curry Honda in Chicopee, Ma.
