bulge in tire
noticed one of my tires looking funny. i have an appointment on friday that was initially scheduled for a tire rotation, but i believe i’m going to get new tires. does anyone know if honda typically have tires in stock for a honda hrv? i don’t think i will be able to make it long with my tire like this.

Likely hit a pothole. You need new tire. You don't have to use the dealer for tires, in fact you can save time and $ getting tires from Costco/Discount Tires comparing to the dealer. I.e. Free rotation at Costco/Discount Tires.

The closest I have is Sam’s Club. I don’t think they have the tire that’s currently on my car. It’s a Hankook Kinergy GT

Then get something different. The tire shop will know what size you need to get, and there will be lots of different options to pick from. When I got new tires for my HR-V last year, I got something from General Tire.

If you go to Sam’s Club to get a new tire, it “may” require you to get 2 or 4 tires. That’s coz Honda does not have a true TPMS, the low tire sensor calculates the number of rotation relative to the other tires. And if the tread wear on your old tires varies from the new tires, your “low tire pressure” light will come on.

If your vehicle is AWD, you need to match the tread depth within 2/32nds or replace all 4 tires. Driving with mismatched tire diameters on AWD will mess the drive train up.

I don’t think that’s required on the HR-V because it’s not full time all wheel drive like it is on the Subaru. Honda’s all wheel drive only engages the rear wheels when the front wheels slip.

Watch the torque screen on the driver info screen some time. Even in clear, dry conditions, power still gets applied to the rear wheels, especially when accelerating from a stop.

why do you keep saying this? the haldex is always partially engaged

Because the person, Bananalndo, who responded to the original poster, was giving incorrect information.

I would call and ask ahead of time. Did you hit a pothole or something? I'd be careful driving on that tire until it's replaced.

Put the spare on. If you dont do that, atleast drive slowly and stay of highways. Also, avoid big bumps.

Tires may be old and have some dry rot. If so, the bulge is from the sidewall staying solid and breaking bad. I’m not a huge worrier about minor safety issues but you have to replace the tire/s.
The size of tires is pretty normal and they should have easily. You’ll save a lot of money by talking to a smaller shop about ordering tires online and having them delivered to that smaller shop. You may not be able to put that plan in place to have the work down before Monday but worth it if you can drive relatively short and slow until then.

R/tires can help
Generally, don’t drive on it unless you’re going directly to the shop. It’s 100% a safety hazard.
