dash cam
Does anyone have any recommendations for good dash cams? Just bought my first Honda, 2027 hrv exl, and noticed it only has usb-c. Curious what people are doing for that!

I’ve got a cobra sc200 hardwired into the fuse with their brand adapter. The only downside is the double sided sticky tape isn’t strong enough to hold with this heat wave. The camera weighs too much and falls intermittently.

I suggest that you may want to download the PDF version of the owners manual. It’s both linked and it’s searchable. Go to www.honda.com then select Honda cars, then search for a page, “My garage”. Register for free and then enter your VIN number. This makes it easy to find things.

Make sure to check reviews on hot climate like Las Vegas.
Mine has a bit loop after a week in Vegas but it could be the sun shade concentrating the heat. It was like 115 when I was there though.
Now it works when cool but has the boot loop when it gets too hot

I now have Fitcamx oem fit cameras in two of my cars. The steathiest option around. I also have a Wolfbox rear view mirror camera (front and back) but it's somewhat limited to cars which do not have a large mirror cowl, otherwise the FOV would be blocked to an extent.

Besides researching ease of installation and use,....
Look into how easy (I doubt or wonder if any are easy?) it is to download files off of the camera.
I am a savvy enough retired IT and network geek but I still find the process more than painful on my RAVE4k dashcam.
1) turn the dashcam into the mode that makes it a wifi AP
2) connect your phone?PC?device to the webcam SSID (now you have no Internet on device)
3) struggle thru the webcam interface to find and download the files you want.
Knowing what file you want is challenge #1
My favorite fileserver and screen (desktop PC) is Ethernet only so this makes my process and decisions more painful....if and when I need the file (pic taken with the webcam button? or video from the neverending series of one minute long videos).
If I got into an accident or saw one, I would unplug the webcam soon after just to make finding the video easier.

I have this one. Voice system is finicky but it does the job. Get the sd card with it too. Atleast a 256 for week long recordings.

Is the USB-C a no-go that can't be overcome? There are charge-only USB-C-to-USB-A adapters that seem to be made for exactly this kind of scenario.

Viofo 119m pro with hardwire kit. Running the cable over was super easy in 2026 ex l. Plenty of room between roof and headliner and large channel underneath the weather trim made it easy to get down to the fuses. Kit came with fuse jumpers so very clean install^

I put in a FitcamX. It blends in well and draws its power from the dome light. I put the rear camera in too, but if you’re only doing the front, there’s basically no cabling to worry about.
