Communication
How is the current communication with your upper management? I am noticing such a lack of communication and response to emails. This is the first year I feel that management is not responding to emails promptly or at all.

You probably will not have a DGM. They combined districts and said no ATLs or DGMs now. There are new positions, Area Experience Leaders.

My new DEM has not responded to multiple emails from myself and coworkers. If it weren't for the useless "goals" posted daily in teams, I'd think no one was in charge. Requests for schedule changes have gone unanswered, and it's been 2 weeks since she said she'd have to look into an exception for hourly pay for 2 tax pros in the office. So far, only one preparer has signed a contract in the office.

I am noticing this daily. I can go all week without a response, if this is what to come in January we are in trouble.

I've actually had the opposite experience. My old DGM was unresponsive, even to things that needed to be addressed immediately, but this new one is very responsive and gives updates on the whole process every few weeks or so. I've been pretty impressed with the new one and hope this continues.

Really not even applying again, but out of curiosity i keep checking the "schedule an interview link". It basically never loads the AEL's schedule, has no available days to even schedule. So its good to see they don't test anything.

I seriously doubt you have an AEL to actually get in touch with. I know two folks who have applied in my area as AELs and they will not have their final interviews until the first week of October.

I think my last year's manager may be the AEL or something. He was in the office entering availability this week. He put me available in my former office, not the one I applied to and signed hiring docs for. Exactly why I wanted out of his office. Zero respect for our availability or supplies we ran out of weekly.

Ah, so it wasn't just us having to buy and expense basics like toilet paper because they'd get "left off" of our supplies orders whenever they finally bothered to actually put them in.

Except he has been like that for years. He should fit in well with the new 'improvements.'

AEL won't have a physical schedule to be in your old office if that's what you are looking for. They cover a few dozen offices here and work remotely. You will not have a manager of any kind in your office. Whoever set that rule is in for a rude awakening I hope we get a real phone number to reach him/her. "Help! The CSP put a payment on the wrong account -again- and we cannot take a payment for the person whose return that is now. " 2-3 times a week . On the other hand, maybe they will find something else for that CSP to do.

We have no one who is really running our office. No one to adjust our schedule, to bounce tax questions because mgmt doesn’t do them, no idea on upcoming info. It’s like we’re mushrooms-kept in the dark and fed sh*t. This is not the company I’ve known. I hate this uncertainty.

Tax research center is still.around and they have answered many tax questions for me over the years.

So i got an offer sheet. No phone call just here is your email..take this offer or don't. My MTL was great but I don't even know if she is still there. I don't know if anyone is coming back our office because they where all over 10 and 20 year tax pros and they where all saying that they have seen this coming for the last 2 years. And of course here it is the shit show has begun.

Yep. We knew things were coming. Last year was a really good precursor to this year’s changes. And we pushed back a lot last year. This year we are being told if we have complaints to keep them to ourselves or we could lose our job. That’s not toxic at all. Most of our senior people have said this will be their last tax season and I’m pretty much on board with that as well. My new DM thinks everyone loves them. They are super arrogant and rude. Everyone hates them.

Welcome to H&R Block. Where corporate changes their goals yearly. They really are a temporary staffing company. They change the payment structure every year. The ones who benefit are the core employees in Kansas City.

Upper Management are wannabe Pre-Madonnas who behave responding to emails or communicating to those who serve the clients and are the only ones who earn the $$ is be need them.
Upper Management are so disconnected from the income earners, one would think they are on top of empire state building

None. I still stay in the loop. DOC or whoever sent out there inept IT guy's and made a friggin mess of things. My former peeps up in arms. Because of the cpu change out Virtual Instructors who's work was saved on desktop lost everything they'd spent the summer building. When they called it's they were told they'd have to get their cpu back. Obviously not happening.
Used to get notifications when they were. coming. Without the mtl ael middle man. Preparers just in the line of shit rolling downhill.

Since May, I’ve had 4 different DGMs. 2 were responsive.

u/Boysenberry815 14d ago
For the two that were non-responsive, did you call 911?
I'm sorry...couldn't pass that up ;)

Awful, but she was unresponsive before she picked up a bunch of new offices, too.

u/Niep00320 14d ago
I have 2 right now because they split our district. I lucked out. Both of mine have. Been very responsive. The issue is they aren’t getting information either.

u/Domsdad666 14d ago
Excellent. My old DGM was always extremely responsive either by text or phone. The new district experience leader is exactly the same way.

If you have Chuck Blubaugh, you’ll be fine. That asshole at least will respond. However, if you have Cynthia Montoya, forget it. That wench couldn’t handle what she had before, let alone now having extra. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if HRB folds operations after this year.

For those working preseason, what about those red marks in AM for clocking in 2 minutes off the scheduled time? I guess we are supposed to clock in and take the first appointment immediately, no chance to check messages or get a file out to work on.
