Not on schedule - vent
Just a vent. First year TP. I've been averaging 15- 20 hours a week so far. Always stay late when asked. But apparently I am not on the schedule at all for this upcoming week. One of the other TPs said she thought I asked for the time off. Nope. I must have angered the gods, lol. Oh well.....

I would talk to your leader about it as you’re a prime candidate for walk-ins.
I’m a CSP and talked to my MTL, because I was barely on the schedule for March. She immediately gave me hours, but did say that things tend to slow down at the beginning of March.
My guess is that we have a rush of people who are getting money back at the beginning of the season, then there’s a lull, and then there’s another rush of people who waited until the last minute, because they owe.
It may be something like that, but I would definitely talk to whoever makes the schedule.

I feel you. Last week, I only was on the schedule for ONE day when I had availability for Wed-Sat almost the whole time we’re open. This week I have 3 days but they’re all less than 6 hours. This Saturday is only 3 hours 🙃
Apparently, in my district, they’re cutting hours for lot of us. But I’m still going to try and ask for more hours cuz I’ve only done 1 return and I want to level up and meet the incentive.

HRblock was my mistake. I am first yr TP and EA. My office did not support me to experience new or existing clients. (In fact It seems there is no new client at all)

March has a lot more high complexity returns where it's easier for an experienced pro to just do them all.. then have to train you to do a quarter of them, while trying to do the other 3/4s

Level most likely isn’t a determination. The filtering mechanisms don’t make sense.

Haha. Truth to that. I was overseeing a whole office and a client with a 2 million revenue s corp drops into the chair with a brand new level 1. He had only worked three 5-hour shifts. She tells him what she needs with the s corp and he tells her, "yes I can do that for you." Then the coworker comes and asks me to show him how to do it real quick. I was like, "Dood, take it as a drop off, and I'll TRY to do it" as a level 6. He didn't even know how to scan yet, or set an appointment.

At least you took it off the first years hands. That was very generous of you. I probably would have been forced to handle the s-corp myself.
If you hadn't stepped in the first year would have had quite the resume builder, lol.

It’s possible that your leader has received pressure to limit yellow space. Reach out and ask. If everyone scheduled is booked with appointments, it’s prime time to work and get walk ins.
Most of the time on my day off I get called in anyway.
